Wagos are lovely to use, worth the price IMHO. Put them in a Wago box with a cable tie holding it shut and it is maintenance free and can be buried.
If you don't have much slack then something like https://www.toolstation.com/wago-221-inline-lever-connector/p47972 are good. If you have a bit more slack then https://www.screwfix.com/p/wago-773-series-24a-2-way-push-wire-connector-100-pack/77102 are loads cheaper.

Cheap, shit, and annoying option:

In one of these:

You’ll need to cable tie the box shut to be fully compliant.
Don’t forget you’ll need to sleeve the earth cable as well.
You can buy short lengths of it on eBay or scamazon if you don’t want the usual long lengths they sell.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115147366562Nb those ideal connectors only work on solid core cables (which those appear to be). Would need to be the lever type if they’re stranded copper.
Need to cut and rejoin these light circuit wires tomorrow, thought I could get a £9.99 set of crimp tool and connectors but it seems it’s all big trade sets or wago’s and as these will be boxed in I want a failsafe connection
Not sure what I need from screwfix/toolstation/B&Q without buying a whole suitcase of connectors I’m never going to use?
