  • I wish decent cargo's were only £4k. In 2023 your going to be parting with £5-8k for most of them! And none at those price points have boutique or very high end parts, just pretty standard!

An average Ford Focus has gone from about £18.5k to £27k in only 2 or 3 years, thats more of a surprise really given the difference in economies of scale between a very common hatch back and a niche product within a niche market.

  • @BrickMan Tern service question for you. The shop I bought from wants £195+VAT for service (😂). What does this entail for the GSD?

Its a belt drive, rohloff one. I regularly clean the bike and replace brake pads myself, I will be doing the rohloff oil change as well.

Although I could; my LBS can service the fork.

The only thing i'll be left with is the 'service' message on the display.

I just refuse to pay that kind of money to this shop, I'll happily pay my LBS.

  • London Green Cycles has a £95 "cargo bike flat fee" so that's the basic inconvenience fee before they start charging for stuff

  • I had a discussion recently with my boss regarding service of GSD's, as we do sell them as well. They are a huge pain in the arse to work around (especially with the clubhouse fort) and usually get abused quite a bit, thats why we'll charge a 350,- Euro flat rate for a service (without parts) in the future (was 189,- before) . Otherwise its not really worth it to work on them.

  • I just charge what it takes, no such thing as flat rate in my shop, if its a bigger job, its a bigger job, if it didn't take that much I charge less. Firm believer in a fair price for a fair job.

Rohloff oil change only inc genuine oil /flush kit is £35
To flush out both brakes, true wheels, check all the bolts, new cable on rear mech, adjust headset and maybe rake out the freehub and apply correct grease and all the usual bike related stuff you'd be about £80
If customer brings full cargo with 6"deep layer of child gunk so I can't get to any bolts to remove accessories then yeah add time and cost.
If customer is considerate, then gsd aren't bad to work on for all the moaning I do about them. It's just all the qc issues on new ones that boils my piss.

Custom wheel build is£35 labour usually. More for boutique dyneena spoke, carbon rim fancy boi stuff.
