Presume you used the Road version. Could you (I) install a bunch of MTB ones and have them usable for road and MTB bikes?

Also, why no bottom bit? Don't mind wall scuffs?

I think probably, this is subjective to your wheelset size with the combo tyres.

Off the floor is due to cleaning - and we place a white vinyl where the wheels sits on the wall to avoid dirt going onto the wall.

Yeah the MTB ones work fine for road bikes. The only issue I've seen is with track bikes or road bikes with tiny clearances between the front wheel and the downtube, then you should use the fender version of the steadyrack.

Tarmac is probably the "closest clearances" so I assume that would be fine. I've watched the video of the guy building his own monorail hook setup and now I'm curious about that as an option. Not sure about drilling stuff into my roof though.

I've seen a Tarmac with a scratched downtube from a steady rack. I would advise you to get the fender compatible. It fits everything up to around a 2.4" tyre but has much better downtube clearance.

I'm still not sure I want to pay $99 per bike anyway, but it's an option. Bear in mind my Tarmac is approaching 20 years old, has done PBP among other audaxes and has more electrical tape on it than any S-Works should have. :D

People have placed electrical tape on the rack to avoid this scratching the bike.

Currently doing this for my track bike.

Anyone got a trick to keep these hinged hooks 'up' so it's easier to put the wheel in each time.

I've got the same and the interference is enough to keep the hook up on mine. Try gently crimping the outer a small bit at a time?

Rust, I jest, i have the same issue, I'm not entirely sure what the benefits of the hinge is.

I guess if you've got low installs or tall people or maybe smaller rooms, you don't have sticky outy hook bits getting in the way.

The flappy hook on those hooks is annoying. Great hook otherwise. The restraining washer on the side is sometimes a bit loose so that when the hook drops the washer doesn’t provide enough friction.
The solution of course is zip ties! Cinches up the washer just enough for hook to stay out

Its the asgard motorcycle shed, technically not allowed in the front I think. I am also looking at that to be installed in the front.

There is a narrower version someone installed near me.

Don’t won’t to wreck a wall for hanging bikes? Feed up of indecision about where the best place to put rack?
Then look at a freestanding clothes rack for inspiration!
Made this without too much effort out of a sheet of osb and 2 lengths of 2.4m of 4 by 2 and a few bits of scrap wood. Holds 5 bikes and is stable , and can be moved very easily to suit my mood.
Just need 3 more bikes.

Have had a look for this but they all seem wider - is it still being made?

Annoyingly I'd be ok with the narrow 'end entry' bike ones for out front except they don't make them with an integrated base

mumsnet (dis)approval is far more important than planning permission

Any thoughts on clug pro? Can’t see any reason why it couldn’t hold a bike vertically by rear wheel - in order to top to tail bikes - but all info and pics online seem to show it only being used to hold the front wheel with the rear wheel taking the weight on the floor

What width tyres do you have? I've some brand new ones you could have for the price of postage but won't hold anything bigger than a 26c I imagine
