Thanks, enjoying the world of shelf hardware I had no idea existed. Exactly why is asked the question.

I saw a cool example on Instagram (which I can't now find) of a dovetail cleat which was attached to the side of a window recess and then the shelf slid onto the dovetail completely hiding it.

That would be nice, but my skill level plus the fact the only person who would see it (or not see it) wouldn't appreciate it means it's a no from me.
