Amazing news! There are a few ex racers that use the park near us. All lovely dogs, so placid and affectionate.

They think miniature but he and his brother came to Battersea at 5 weeks old and we're a bit subdued and no history. He had his first jab on Monday and brought him home Tuesday. He's come on leaps and bounds in just a day and runs around like a rocket. Every time I pick him up he chews my beard but he's surprisingly keen to get house trained so no complaints.

I want to spend some time with border terriers and staffys before hopefully getting one next year ish. Occasionally get lucky in the pub and get chatting to owners but not many of them around where I live. Colleague at work said going to Crufts would be a good shout
Anything else I can do? -

Have a look on BorrowMyDoggy and see if there’s any on there that you could walk/sit for a night.
Doesn’t cost much to join.My partner and I work often long/odd hours so can’t really get a dog so joined in the hope of finding a Springer Spaniel and we met Daisy, wonderful dog who we now get loads of time with and owners who have become close friends.

Meet Rupert, we picked the ex-racer up today from a kennel in Waltham Cross. He seemed quite excitable in the house but settled down after some food and water. Imagine it's all so new. He even napped on the sofa with me for a few mins which is a good sign. Haven't worked out how we eat ourselves with him, as he doesn't know yet it's not for him and he seemed to whine a little when shut in our utility room for 10mins. Wish us luck tonight!

Last night was eventful, woke up to the world's largest steaming pile of shite in the living room then ended up sleeping on the sofa. Once I stayed in the room he seemed fine and is a lot calmer today.

Poor lad! Crumpet had a couple of accidents when we first got her, I think it was just the nerves and excitement of being in a new place with new people. Fingers crossed it's not a habit for Rupert!

Congratulations on Rupert. Sighthounds are so relaxing to be around. A nice long walk or a play in the morning and they'll chill with you for the rest of the day. Your Sundays are about to get a whole lot better 😁

Welcome to DogLand. It is likely to happen again. Rupert has almost certainly lived his life in a kennel and run, the nice people (who wouldn't play with him) took away the shite every morning, before he was allowed to chase fluffy things. He'll soon get the idea, in the meantime, keep a plastic bag handy.

@retro_bastard @ColinTheBald sorry just seen your replies, thanks so much for the wise words and encouragement. Last night Mrs Jambon and I slept in the same bed since getting the hound, ooo errr etc. We've been operating on a few hours sleep but last night only had to check on him a couple of times. And the dog diarrhea in the living room has stopped, for now.
He's frozen on a couple of walks, but thankfully we had some treats to get him moving. Didn't appreciate how sensitive these dogs are, or maybe just our one. I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel in terms of him getting used to the new surroundings so fingers crossed the progress continues.

Early days yet and sounds like your making progress already give it a month and he'll soon work out his new life is much better than his old one

Regardez Les testicles!
9 weeks old tomorrow and only one wee at night on puppy pads. Things are going nicely so far.
I can't get a decent photo in the half light in the lounge.

I have a 1/2 border 1/2 JRT and he's brillant and my two friend have BT's.
I will say they can be absolute dicks, but they are brilliant dogs.

Lovely dog. Mrs NLL and myself have 3 Labradors. The older two are 11 and 7 and black and yellow respectively. Young pup is now 6 months old and is chocolate.
I'd love to have a fox red one but as, technically, that's merely a variant of yellow will put that off for some time.

Dog tracker
Somone recommended me a dog tracker that's like the Garmin one, but cheaper, previously. I can't find my note on the brand, can you please remind md? It's a tracker or always on the lead, seems he has found his hunting nose.

I recommend the Dogtrace x20

The company is Spanish so you may be able to find it cheaper 🤞
We passed the home visit from the retired greyhound kennel on Sunday, baring making the garden more secure. Spent yesterday digging out 12m of privet hedging to accommodate a new fence. 10 garden waste bags full and still going. We collect the hound on Saturday, exciting times!
