Slight tenuous link to this thread but here goes. I don’t think I’m the only guy who fell in love with The Detectorists on the BBC and after one too many Friday drinks ended up with a secondhand metal detector from EBay.
My collection of buttons and general crap begins here, all dug up in our garden this arvo. No gold dance was performed.

Brilliant!! I have always wanted a metal detector, very jealous.
Out of interest, how much did it cost.........

That's great, love the little flower/mushroom.

Cheers, it wasn’t cheap because I wanted one that could detect GOLD!(always believe in…). It’s a Minelab 800 but the reason it was a bit cheaper was the instructions and buttons are all in Russian lol. I just downloaded the manual from the web and got a replacement screen cover.
@ltc Apparently that’s a ‘brass sexfoil stud’ as used in upholstery. You bet I joined a metal detecting forum.

brass sexfoil stud
That's my tinder bio sorted if ever I need one.

it wasn’t cheap
So....how much was it??

You sound just like my wife. It was £600 which is exactly double what I told her it cost. One Roman hoard and I’ll totes recoup.

Just stumbled on this thread. I used to collect Penguin paperback first editions. At one point I had nearly 800 but have got rid of the vast majority … just keeping those in the first 100 and a few others that I particularly want.

did similar in the late ‘80s when I was at art school and then made a go of it after reading that Keith Waterhouse had done it. I didn’t get anywhere close to 1000 though! And somewhere along the way I lost boxes of the things. But doing it introduced me to novels I wouldn’t have ever picked up and read otherwise (Stanley J Weyman’s Under the Red Robe, Leo Walmsley’s Phantom Lobster…).

I have 8 door passes here from previous buildings and 15 expired credit cards... why?
Also, 4 Oyster cards that aren't mine, a 17yo YHA card and my uni card and I think every business card I've got off anyone ever.

Beer glasses, beer menus, beer bottle caps and also a box full of beer coasters it seems.

Saw these and threw my money at them.
Super7 Reaction figures of Beastie Boys as actors playing parts in a TV series (Sabotage is one of the great music videos)
Beastie Toys, if you like.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your copy of Killing Joke? I'm thinking about selling my signed copy. I've got a full set of OG V for Vendetta as well, and Watchmen (including a signed by AM #1) and most of the Moore Swamp Thing issues.
It's so annoying that you need to get them graded like baseball cards to sell them these days.

I have a few Killing Jokes now,
Green text was £50 for the readable and I think I paid £90 for a slabbed one.Did get a full set of V for Vendetta and Watchmen DC runs.
I like slabbed stuff for security, but the mark up is insane.

I'm still after the alphabet 10p coins. Also any limited edition 50p or £2 coins. Check your coins please I'm willing to pay
I suppose any odd or limited ed coins outside of those values also works, they just seem to be the most commonly used

There is what I've got doubles of, without looking at condition or year

And again without (looking for) errors or year - never seen the 10s

I see a couple in there that I don't have (I'm sure the collection has thinned somehow)
I don't have many doubles with £2
But a few doubles in the 50p collection

I really need to clean them all up and get a folder. I like the details on the rail ones. One has "mind the gap" around the edge and the other has a line with stops like you see on a rail map. I also need a decent camera 😅

Think I see four of these I'd swap for
Added graded comics to my collection.
Got this because I like Todd McFarlane stuff, and quite like the cover.
Not worth much, I paid £30 for this one.
Also have Joker #1 (1975) inbound, that was m0re spendy (also CGC 7.5 so not super collectable)
