I dropped the cooker hood again this morning, pulled all the restrictive PVC flexible ducting hose from the roof void and had a look up there with using my phone. The now measured 100mm hole in the ceiling wasn't big enough to do much else!
The resulting video does show me a small void area with a generally free run to the fascia. Only a couple of long screws that must have been too much effort for someone to do anything with in the way of a potential duct run. Once I drill larger 150mm holes in the ceiling and fascia I should be able to cut them down.
It looks like an easy job, that would have been even easier at the time, as I'll need to remove the guttering for access to drill the fascia.
I've fitted a temporary 150mm aluminium flexi hose to the extractor for now and just left it running as it was before - blasting back out into the kitchen. I still need to pick up the hole saw from Screwfix before I can continue and got other things to do today.
I also downloaded a dB app to measure the difference with the right size duct hose fitted and the old restrictive set up. 72dB before and 55dB after!
