I don't think you even need fabric. Just squird some shoo goo on and move it with plastic spoon. It'll then be the protective surface. It's tough stuff.
That is my impression of shoe goo; it’s structural.
Yes. I sewed some leather shoes together and then shoegoo'd over it on the outside to act as protective surface for stitching. Worked good.
