Not really pro cycling but can anyone tell me why discovery plus is a big steaming pile of shit on Apple TV ? Thanks.

Because no one uses Apple TV so there is no incentive for other channels to invest engineering effort to make their services work well on it.

Also AppleTV has it's own OS which has very little cross over with other platforms so you need to be developing the TVOS app separately. Also there's the usual Apple fuckery of forcing you to use payment models in a certain way, forcing you to support certain features etc. which is hostile for anyone wanting to use TVOS as their primary platform. So I imagine most companies do what we do, hire a single contractor to build and support the TVOS which doesn't get most of the new features or updates, just keeps it working.

What problems you having? I’ve got the same setup and don't see much wrong with it.

Totally, but team graphics are transient and you can brush off the shit ones in the hope that they'll redeem themselves the following year. A classification jersey being changed to the point that it's hard to pick out in the Peloton (and shit looking) is just utter nonsense.

For some reason, I can watch live (good) but trying to watch highlights/races that have happened doesn't happen (bad). Which leaves me with the discovery app on my apple tv and a whole shit load of channels (turbo, food network, etc. and so on) that are shit (bad).

Agreed that all the other discovery channels are shit - hurts my eyes when I even see the Home Screen.
I don’t have any issues with watching older (non-live) stuff though. Works like you’d expect. Maybe try ‘turn it off and on again’ to various extents. You could create another user profile and see if that profile works differently, log out and back into the app, delete the app and load it again.
