After 18 months of commuting, travelling and wearing out every single component on it, i upgraded the stock H bars to some mid-rise carbon JK bars.
Safe to say, for a tall rider like me, these bars do make a difference. Although they're slighly lower, they are much wider and with a more "traditional riser" backsweep. Also the carbon does help, at least on the very rough pavement.
Even with an H front clamp, i didn't need to lenghten the cables, although they are a little bit more stretched now. The bike still folds perfectly, but the lower bar end touches from time to time when i roll it around.
I've sent an email to JK asking the recommended tightening torque for the stem clamp and they said between 8 and 9 Nm it's fine. I managed without any slipping at 5 Nm and some carbon grip paste.
All in all, much recommended upgrade, especially if you're planning to make the bike feel less like a minivelo and more like a "normal" bike. It's also possible to widen a little bit the space between the grips and the brake levers, handy if you have bigger hands (or you just want to buy some normal sized grips and save some $$).
P.s. The rusty chain is just the victim of a rainy ride from a few days ago, i'll clean it soon enough.
Reader's.
