    "Please don't touch the artwork".

Now and then, we are reminded as to why these signs are still needed in galleries around the world.

Art lovers in Miami looked on in horror on Thursday night, when a collector accidentally knocked a $42,000 (£34,870) sculpture by US pop artist Jeff Koons to the ground.

She had tapped it with her finger, witnesses at the event said.

The statue - one of Koons' iconic Dog Balloons - smashed into tiny shards, and had to be swept into dustpans by gallery staff.

  • It's so easy to tell his assistants to make another one, there's no story here

I'm much more upset about the mug my mum gave me that lost the handle

  • When you go to check in for a flight tomorrow and realise you booked it for the 24th March not 24th February. Another £300 quid to get back from Lisbon tomorrow ffs.

  • Never used it, but something like this might help recoup some of that

  • Similar issue with trains. Booked a month in advance for 25th Feb (cost £60), wanted to change booking to 25th March (again, a month in advance) but was quoted a cost of £120 which included the full refund of the original ticket. Get away te f***, GWR. I’ll walk to Bristol.

Who'd have thought Hancock wouldn't pick the sharpest of legal minds?

  • Me at work taking so long on tasks that other people are doing in 20 mins....I feel so old and slow atm I feel like granpar simpson trying to program the video.

  • Fair play to him, he took it in good spirits when proved to be wrong

  • I used to work with Peter, who was 70 and still doing software development, mainly because he liked it still. He was absolutely competent, but you know, kind of slow and steady. Needless to say we called him Old Man Peter. In a nice way, I'd like to think.

Anyway, this was about 10 years ago. I'm now feeling more and more like Old Man Peter.

  • I would like to think I'll get to the competent level soon but I fear in today's work environment there's not much room for slow and steady. It has to now and correct !

  • Oh the irony.

  • You feel old!
Am 56 and still working in the design trade somehow
Feels like I’m from the Cambrian epoch most days lol

  • I'm sure I've made a mistake in there with my spelling. But I can't see it. But there you go. A prime example of how I've been struggling at work...😔

  • It has to now and correct !

    Missing a "be".

  • Me, getting fed up with slow mobile browsing speeds so decided it's time to upgrade my old iPhone XR to a 5G model. Ordered a second-hand one, spent half the day migrating apps and setting up the wallet etc. Then, fucking then, realised that the 11 model I got doesn't do 5G. FML.

  • Thanks now it's pointed out I can see it.

  • Missed a flight Lisbon - Luton. Was 25m away from the gate.

    But Lisbon is great.

  • Years ago a colleague of mine missed flights to the US on consecutive weekends as he was watching TV in the bar at Heathrow. Both times they called his name over the speaker system but he assumed he'd have time to finish his beer.

  • priorities

  • Expensive beer tho at 600 quid a glass.

  • He must be head of something by now with an ego like that.

  • I got absolutely fucking destroyed in Melbourne before my flight home, got to the airport, checked in, got to the gate and woke up an hour after the flight had taken off.

8 hours and an £800 new ticket later, now on a massive comedown, they wouldn't let me check in because I was so fucked up I couldn't hold my ticket and passport. They insisted I go to the doctor in the airport.

Instead, I went and had some soup, came back and told them the doctor thought I had a bit of a bug. They let me on, and had a 22 hr packed, sleepless flight back to Ldn with comedown psychosis.

Got home, 2 hrs sleep, then a flight to Edinburgh to do a full day presenting to clients. Most painful couple of days ever.

Deciding to fly to Melbourne for a 3-day weekend was not a smart move to begin with.

  • I got absolutely fucking destroyed in Melbourne before my flight home,

I hear that's not cheap either. Sounds like you wanted to spend as much dosh as possible 😂

  • I did an all-nighter on the Garries/Garys/Gary's before flying home from Brisbane to the UK after 3 years away back in 2006. Tried checking in whilst coming up on the last Gary. Bloke behind the desk asking me if I'm ok. Said I was feeling weird. Told me I couldn't fly. Said I was fine. Then he told me my bags were overweight and that I needed to put all of my heavy shit in my hand luggage and the light-stuff in the hold bag. Confused as fuck, I asked if they were going on different planes, he said no. I followed his instructions anyway.

Got on the plane. Passed out after a while. Woke up on the tarmac in South Korea for the stopover. Went to collect my hold bag. Waited for an hour. Asked an airport employee. He told me my bag was staying on the plane. I was wearing shorts and a hoody. There was snow on the ground. My carry-on bag was full of shoes and nothing else. Fuck's sake.

Got to the subsidised 5 star hotel that came with the cheap ticket. They told me the stopover was 3 nights not one. Come down really kicking in now. I'm penniless and hoping to surprise my parents who thought I was never coming home so don't want to ring them on the beg. The airport staff took pity on me and let me help myself to the lunch and evening buffets after the rest of the guests were finished with them.

So I became a sort of hotel Golum figure for 3 days, skulking in the shadows waiting for the buffets to quieten down before scurrying off with whatever was left. I had to wash my clothes in the sink and live in the robe until they dried. Got to rotate my footwear at least. Watched BBC news all day. Failed in numerous bids to chat up the waitresses.

I can't help but wonder if the guy at the check in desk was just stitching me up or if there was logic to his instructions.

    Either way, precious memories.
