I've signed up to ride JennRide with a couple of mates in May, but the gravel route (yeah, I know). Neither of them have gravel bikes, so are likely going to rent something for the day. Anywhere round Kendal that rents anything other than MTBs?
If they end up on HTs, I'm thinking it might be better for me to ride my enduro bike with some XC tyres on, rather than my CX bike, or does 100miles of gravel in a day on it sound mental? -
• #26184
Disclaimer; I don't even know what the route is like yet
-
• #26185
Total Adventure bike hire in Windermere will do you a gravel bike.
100 miles of gravel on an enduro bike sounds horrible.

Yes, now I say it out loud, I don't even know why I was considering it
Brill, will send them that way, thanks!

Went to the "Eagle Fest" today at the Eagle MTB park here in Adelaide to have a gander.
Notable attendees were Troy Brosnan and Connor Fearon.I looked at the track from the bridge drop off downwards and it's beyond me how all these people launch themselves off this shit. Loads of under 16 groms included.

Then I proceeded to ride up the hill and our of sight in my spandex on my XC hardtail.

I went to Bukit Timah yesterday- rode round the coast on bike paths, wiggled through the CBD then picked up a disused railway line that runs all the way to the trails:

It’s good riding, rolling rather than descending, but you can carry a lot of speed through the turns and there are frequent small (and some not some small) step downs into rock gardens.

I met a group of other riders who looked like they’d been teleported from the Surrey Hills and will be riding with them next weekend.
Based on their advice I’ll head to Chang Mai for my last week here where there’s very good riding.

Look out for Trailhead cafe, there was also a workshop a few doors down when I went

Chiang Mai is incredible for riding. Anything two wheels.

Ugh. What could be causing reoccurring knocking when lifting the bike, when the shock was only serviced a few months ago, and all the frame pivot bearings feel smooth, and there's no sideways movement at all?
I'm pretty sure something's happening at the top shock bolt, there's a miniscule amount of movement if you twist the shock, but no obvious fore/aft movement. Yes, all the bolts are torqued to spec, loctited, etc. -
• #26194
I'm unsure what it might be but to help eliminate things...
Is this happening when you lift the bike from the saddle, main frame, rear section. -
• #26195
Main frame, top tube or seat tube. It's not the saddle/dropper. It doesn't do it with the shock removed. If I loosen the top shock bolt a bit, it exacerbates the same noise/feeling. Tighten back to torque spec lessens it, but it's still there.

I'm starting to think it might be the shock bolt itself being a bit worn. It runs directly on a brass bushing, I can only think the bolt isn't quite as thick as it used to be, so the shock can move fore and aft a bit

My bro sent me a photo of his kid doing a gap jump on his new MTB the other day.
It might not have been Red Bull worthy but I just saw myself in hospital again even thinking about trying that kind of thing.

Some more pics. The Eagle MTB park is cool it's a disused quarry. https://www.instagram.com/p/CptL1zbSCVz

I'm starting to think it might be the shock bolt
Nope. Was just the shock bushings worn out. I'm surprised I've gone through them that quickly, they were replaced in Sept and I've probably only done 20hrs riding on them. Most it was in Wales though, so rough stuff.
I went from a 50mm stem to a 100m stem on the Stanton before AMR.
I wouldn't mind experimenting with sweep angles a bit as well but I'll save that for the new bike. #buyer
