I think it depends on what you want to do to the music when you're playing; if you like chopping, looping and throwing effects all over the place and doing live edits of tracks that boring bit makes it a piece of piss.
I got a second hand Lenovo laptop and cheapo Pioneer controller for about £250 and the free version of Serato and it's probably 90% of the basic CDJ functions and mixer effects.
