  • What a bummer. Glad I got to go at least once.

  • Yeah shame, it was great.

  • Am off to the do the Fred Witton in the Lakes in May. It will be my first visit ta lakes.

I’d like to go somewhere nice for lunch or dinner with my in laws and wife and toddler.

    Any suggestions from the hive?

  • Watch the first series of The Trip and take yer pick

  • There's lots of fancy grub up there now. Not that I know from experience, more from reading Grace Dent reviews. May all be fancier than you want but I seem to recall some pub she gushed about.

  • Went to Bocca Di Lupo off the back of several recs on here. V V good.

  • I’ve have a gander at her reviews so.

There’s no way I have time to watch the first series of the trip before hand

  • Any recommendations for singapore?

  • My wife has just come back so will ask her

  • If you tell me what you’d like / into I’ll give it a shot. Been here for the last 5+ years.

  • local and general asian would be good, there sunday->saturday for work and will likely be getting dinner solo most evenings

  • glad to hear this..

reminds me I need to book a table there in the near future.

  • Drunken Duck would get my vote

  • I had amazing Japanese at Dinings in Marylebone the other day.

Strongly recommended. Particularly if someone else is paying.

Awesome service too. They crafted a menu, on demand, to cater for the three of us: one vegan, one pescatarian and me, the omnivore.

  • Cheers - I’ll look it up 👍🏻

  • Quick bites near (or in) Shepherds Bush Market? Assume Mr Falafel is still there and good?

Edit: Also ^^ that looks ace.

  • Anywhere good for breakfast in the tower bridge area?

Rare work trip to London and I'll be in the area an hour or so before I need to be.

  • Do NOT go to the Ivy Tower Bridge.

    Worst service I can remember.

I asked them to remove the service charge when I was there last week for a friend's birthday brekkie treat. When they asked why, I said "because it was absolutely execrable" and gave them the evil eye. I enjoyed that interchange more than any other moment of the nearly two hours we were there. The first fifty five minutes of which were spent attempting to get a cup of coffee.

  • Might go lowbrow, Breakfast Club over London Bridge is not too far from where I need to be.

  • I’d recommend WatchHouse Tower Bridge - does amazing coffee and the food/pastries have always looked great whenever I’ve been in there

  • Cat and Cucumber for OG greasy spoon vibes

  • Cat and Cucumber

is that still there? i thought it had gone, last time I was down that way.

  • Not a restaurant but I need somewhere that’s good for a drink after going to Laksa Mania on Newman with overseas visitors that have have a 14 year old in tow.
We have 2 hour limit for our table and need a plan B if they want to go somewhere after. I’m guessing heading north rather than south into soho will be better.

  • in the vicinity greyhound cafe is enjoyable.
it's open, they have a large heated terrace, you can have food or drinks, there would be fancy non alcoholic drinks.
