Saw a couple of these in Budapest. Look like bit like a bullitt, made of steel

There's a community hire kid transporter / cargo bike hire thing being run in Herne Hill just up the road. Through the Herne Hill Forum if my memory is right.

Maybe these are the German bullet knockoffs? Ir probably a bunch more now

So I took my kids out on the bullitt for the first time since my disc herniation, working on a more upright cycling position but I need a new saddle.
I've got a Brooks swallow on there atm but I don't think it's going to work going forward. I've also been thinking of a suspension seatpost like the thudbuster but I've no clue if they're actually worth it or just a gimmick?
Any advice very much welcome.

You can get in touch with Lambeth council?

Thudbusters are great. A bit expensive but take some of the impact of bumps. I have one on my MBT after doing the SDW without and what a difference. They have elastomers according to your weight. I also have a broken pelvis at the moment and will be grateful to have a thudbuster on both my main bikes. There are other options out there, maybe even a dropper post? But I'm happy with mine.

Why not go full on Brooks?

I don't have any experience with the thudbuster but I have multiple Suntour NCX seat posts and they are brilliant, makes a huge difference for me.

I don't mind paying for something that works but it's a lot of money to punt on a seatpost so good to hear from someone one that's happy with it, riding with a broken pelvis seems like a horrible thought though.
@withered_preacher I've thought about it, I've always ridden on Brooks saddles but I've never tried the spring ones, I always assumed it'd be like cruising on a boat. Might try and pick up a cheap second hand one to see how it feels.
@sohi cool, these are a lot cheaper than the thudbuster I'll have a look.

Not sure if you can hire one as a tourist though, you might have to be a resident of one of the particpating boroughs. Can't do any harm to enquire with them.

Yup a Thudbuster type suspension seatpost helps big time with the 'throwing forward' action you get on a loaded up long john cargo.
Suntour SP12 or XLC SP11 or XLC SP07**I have this, sold dozens of them, they are reasonably rebuildable and only £70. You'll need a shim to make them up to Bullitt size as I think they are only available in 27.2mm. Adjustable spring preload underneath. Need to grease up the pivots every 6 months as they get squeaky but no real play in mine, got 3 years on it now. Genuine Cane Creek thudbuster is a better seatpost, no doubt about that, but nearly triple the price these days.

The Suntour come in 27.2, 30.9 and 31.6 at least.

Looks like the sp12 is is about 60 quid online atm so I'll probably give it try, cheers.

Perhaps a bit off topic... I've a draft booking with PedalMe with trailer for a flat move for my partner. It is a 20 mile journey across London.
They have a small desk but no other large furniture items. I'm going to move plants by hand on the tube/train. They are freaking out a little about damage/rain/carrying capacity.
Trying to be a bit greener and don't fancy driving a van across London. Anyone done something similar?

Not sure if it's the wrong size but you can borrow my large omnium if you want. You can take a desk easy.

I've moved flat with PedalMe, moving considerably more furniture than one small desk. You'll be fine, just hope it doesnt rain ;)

Dolly looking very cool! Only problem with the box on our bike is the bars sweep across the basket a bit. I can adjust the stem up, which might be the way to go for dog carrying.
We are going to be visiting London in April with the kids and just wondered if there’s anywhere we can hire a cargo bike from?
We’re staying in Brixton if that makes a difference
