  • Anywhere to hang a tea towel ? I personally can’t stand them on the oven door as you have to peer through to see in. We have bars at either end of the island to hang them over

  • Curved island doors taking shape - im hoping to get down this weekend and see some of the progress

  • Are those images from the architects?
They sure as hell take designing a kitchen very seriously.
The middle element of the lower wall element is a dishwasher?

Rounded edge of island looks beautiful.
Is the space inside accessable and how?
And yes, I will add to the comments that you will quite soon regret not getting overhead cupboards.

  • Integrate the hob fan, more storage..
I think getting less deep then the bottom ones would look good and maybe do them in the same veneer as the island? Would tie both elements together.

  • There is a cupboard on each side of the curve but the central panel is fixed.

Having storage on that wall is something I’m totally happy with 😌

The cupboards on either wall are covered in Marmoleum - I think otherwise there would be too much Douglas fir (floor, understairs cabinetry, window and door reveals etc)

  • Just ordered one of these leadworx external ducting outlets for the range hood. Thought they looked smart and well made.

  • Submitted to suppliers for pricing on velfac / rational / flush aluminum. is a lorra lorra glass. guesses for supply and fit please - winner gets a £5 boots gift card

    So what's the damage then?

  • 30k for rational
    20k for cortizo
    15k for nordvest (without fitting)

  • Does that mean I could’ve saved 50%?!

  • Rationale have nice handles so well worth the extra … probably

  • The handle mechanism is 🥰🥰 to be fair and super smooth

  • But what would it have cost you in the future?

  • Almost got a bathroom

  • I have a friend hoping to put an offer in I n Brixton. Tiny house and it will need work, possibly eg opening up a floor or flipping so living area on middle floor not basement.

Does anyone have any architect recommendations in that area, and does an architect normally charge for a first “come and have a look” meeting (presumably yes?) and if so, how much roughly…?

  • I think we have the same tiles, are they whole cut* ceramic or the real deal?
*mixture of bits/colours all the way through.

They look like it, the key represents the brushed brass crosswater taps/shower

if they are the same what grout did you use? we want something to match the tile as close as possible.

  • They’re the Mandarin Stone Terrazzo Nouveau - is that the same?

I think those are the Raven Yuki tiles too? We have those in the upstairs bathroom

  • yes the same tile/factory in Italy as the mandarin stone ones but cheaper from a tile warehouse in Croydon thanks to Google reverse image search!
other tiles are like the Uki but a bit narrower and not £200 s/M, called 'kit-Kat' again sourced using google image search and finding somewhere that did the whole range so we could choose a colour as images seemed to vary between retailers and they give the colours different names.

  • I think they’re the same tiles that we have.

  • We have the same terrazo and sage green tiles on the walls. Pretty sure we used Mapei (of course) silver grey grout, as it goes with both.

I doubt there will be a fee for a first look - I've never done that - I would say most wouldn't.

  • well worth the extra 50%

  • Anyone putting fireplaces back in? Or has done in the past. Any great advice?

  • Echo that. Met 3, none charged a first chat fee.
Only point I’d mention is that none understood the difference between x=my amount of money and x=my amount of money + vat.

  • Currently doing this. Well just the burner; the fireplace is already there.

We decommissioned the gas fire that was in there and we need a new liner and heat shield (both larger gauge of material), and some minor brickwork at the chimney end (for a new register plate).
