Hah just clocked Woodfall Lane at around mile 55, that’ll be fun. At least you can stop in the low bradfield post office and fuel up on bakewell tart beforehand.

Well that's convinced me to actually change my gearing now having had a look at streetview. After 3 and a half years of exclusively 48x17, 48x18 is going to be mad spinny and skiddy. Most bike maintenance I've ever done! Really looking forward to this now.

The weather forecast for the next few days in Sheffield is fucking awful: wall to wall snow from this afternoon to Friday. -6 degrees at 6am on Saturday morning. 🥶

Isn't it more wet snow rather than icy snow?

At -6 I think it'll pretty much turn to ice, but I didn't do chemistry past gcse, so I could be wrong.

I don't want to Armchair DS a ride I'm not going on but it was -2 on HDiJ and we got very lucky that nobody binned it. The Peaks will still be there later this spring

that's my thoughts. i stacked it twice this winter and don't trust myself to stay upright.

Tentative London to Cambridge 18th March? Subject to half-decent weather and my knee un-buggering itself in time I'm still keen. @jmg412 might be up for it as well...

The -6 is a feels like temp? BBC forecast is hovering just above freezing. Not disagreeing that it could be icy, just being hopeful!

Met office is saying -8 at 6am on Saturday now. -2 at 9am. Feels like temps are -11 and -4 respectively. Got an inch of snow already, forecast to snow now for the next couple of days.

And this is the weather down in the city, it’ll likely be worse up high.

Met could be wrong, of course, it wouldn’t be the first time. But right now it’s looking positively dangerous.

A lot of the peak will be gritted, but as soon as you get off the main roads it's gonna be proper icy.

Worse things to do than coming to Sheffield and sitting in the pubs all day tbf.

Haha I recognise those flats behind your garden. Im a bit further up the hill than your road and it’s looking pretty sketchy too. I imagine by the weekend my road will be a giant sheet of ice.
