• It's a great looking commuter 😍 . On my '89 AB the 28mm gp4000's were as wide as it could get (they are actually 31mm I believe).
What shifters are you running on the flat bar?

  • Thanks!😊

They are trusty ol' DX thumbshifters, sl-MT62 if I remember correctly. Such pleasing action to have a proper lever to push and pull, and you get the indexed option for the rear shifter there as well. Well-made thumbies are probably my favorite type of shifter of all time!

28's are also right there on the limit with my frame.

  • So that works with 7- or 8-speed right? I'm running a campy 9sp cassette now on my commuter though, shifting with shimano 600 tricolor on friction mode. Shifts quite horrible (due to the fubar altus RD), so I'm looking for solutions. Getting a proper RD should do the trick, but I would love shifting indexed again. If I keep the campy wheels I guess campy RD and shifters is the answer, but getting a campy thumb shifter is going to be difficult I think. Euclid seems the only option. Or is there a way to combine shimano/campy in this range? I have got some 10sp rapidfire in the parts bin...
