  • Seems the forerunner is the one I want with a look at that.

  • FWIW the 265 and 965 Forerunners are due to launch this week so you might want to hold fire for potential discounts on the older ones. These new ones will be AMOLED so will be a significant price hike..

  • will be a significant price hike..

    £££

Good point though, I was going to go look at DC Rainmaker to see what the latest on new watches is.

(Nothing on DC Rainmaker which suggests he's under embargo at the moment. Will hold on until his posts drop.)

  • Yeah, this site seems to have quite a lot of the leaks etc ... about the new 965 and 265

  • Yeah. 255 seems to do everything I want (just as my current 945 does) and is currently only £299.99.

Will see what this drops to when the 265 is out.

Needing something that can do 12+ hour events is a way away right now. At the current rate of fat removal I'll be good for a 70.3 in 2024 and then maybe a stab at a full IM distance event in 2025.

  • The 265 software looks a lot like the Coros and a departure from 255

Can't seem to upload. See here

  • Seems the only reason to wait for it is to get a reduced 255. Can't see anything I need from it.

  • RWGPS - Export GPX Files on Mobile
Show up to the ride but forget to load the route? No problem! With a standard data connection, you can simply pop the route open in the mobile app, export the GPX file to your preferred companion app, sync to your device via Bluetooth and you’re good to go!

    https://ridewithgps.com/news/7700-export-gpx-files-from-the-mobile-app

Neat. I've found other ways around this problem (Garmin wifi w/ hotspot, OSMAnd or Garmin app) but it's always nice to have more flexibility with phone apps.

  • It has always pissed me off that you couldn't download a gpx from the mobile app. I got around it by logging into the desktop site (on my phone) and downloading from there, but this is much better.

  • I think the easiest has been adding my hotspot to my Garmin and then it'll just sync when I star a route in RWGPS but it does depend where you're getting the file from yada yada so another option is always useful. With this, I could download a route from RWGPS and use OSMAnd to find water sources or something.

  • At last! I don't know what's taken them so long to implement this feature, but better late than never.

  • 965 announcement is public, here's DC Rainmaker's review:-

  • So an update to a watch that was released just 9 months ago, in an already over saturated product line.

What's a poor boy got to do to get a simple Edge 540 for heavens sake?!

  • Annoying you still can't load a gpx in!

  • So an update to a watch that was released just 9 months ago, in an already over saturated product line.

Yeah, but a load of people will want it because AMOLED.

  • Are 255 cheaper now?

Goes and looks. That's all I'm waiting for.

    Edit: no

  • 965 and 265 aren't available for another 3 weeks or so, so it'll take a while for the prices of older models (like the 255) to come down.

I'll post here if I see the 255 for less than current RRP (299.99 for the non music model, 349.99 for the music version).

I'll be buying a 255SM if I see it for under 300 (or even cheaper in a sale).

  • Thanks. I'll get the same. Don't want music but do want a black one and seems black is music only!

  • Blacks had the 255s for £249 three weeks ago but have sold out. I don't think there is a lot of excess stock around.

  • Haha same and I think the 1040 would be too big

  • Interestingly I think almost everywhere seemed to be offering them for £50 off RRP for the last couple of months (and my wife got the small music verison for £270 before Xmas) but the prices have actually gone back up to RRP since the 265 launch. Sigma seem to be the exception as they have the black large music verison still at £300

.. I agree they will probably drop all models back down soon though.

  • Probably the kind of thing sports pursuit will have up shortly.

  • About to try to replace my elemnt battery with a guide I found on google, wish me luck!
