  • Anyone work or know anyone working at merlin cycles?

  • Anyone know of a decent shot blaster within the M25 before I start calling around?

For a frame? Doesn't Mario Vaz's (of paintjob fame) brother do that kind of thing?

  • Steve at Aurum

  • Has embedding images from Onedrive been removed (by Onedrive)? When I selected a picture on Onedrive there used to be an embed option which would then generate something like this

Option doesn't seem to be there any more but I can't see anything online about it being removed.

  • Has anyone been through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel so far today? Are both lifts working if so? They're all over the place at the moment.

  • Will I have to pay import duties/VAT on orders from BikeInn (Spain)?

Starbike (Germany) warns you of duties but BikeInn doesn’t. Comparing prices before ordering a fork.

  • Will I have to pay import duties/VAT on orders from BikeInn (Spain)?

Depends on the value of the order. Under £135 the seller should collect UK 20% VAT at the point of sale and there is nothing to pay on import. Above that, they won't charge VAT and you'll pay it to the delivery agent (plus a handling charge) before they release the consignment to you

  • Just a spammer. I didn’t check the other parts of the forum but it’s probably going to be a lot of clearing up for the moderators if it’s multiple sign-ups.

Edit: nope, they’ve dealt with it already.

  • Yep, John just emailed me to say he’s been out with the broom and bucket lol

  • Any recommendations for EV home chargers?

  • Fix them securely to the wall?

  • It’ll be over £135. Should I not believe this on their site? It contradicts gov uk.

  • Should I not believe this on their site?

They may be including VAT and duty plus whatever they're paying their UK handling agent to clear the shipments through customs in the displayed prices.

    It contradicts gov uk

...ish. There's nothing to stop an EU (or other forrin) business paying the UK freight handling agent on your behalf so that you don't have to.

  • I am getting a new passport. I had my identity verified by a friend, I did the form online and was contacted about the hyphen in my name. It shouldn't be there but it is. In order to get it changed I have to send in two bits of documentation where your name doesn't have the offending hyphen. Easy I said. I will email you the address she said. No email. Where do I send these docs? I really need to get this over the line before travelling at Easter!

  • A company has recently launched with a lot of money and a very similar top domain name (completely different sector/country). I get roughly 30 sales emails a day from big banks and stock exchanges and it's fucking tedious.

I don't quite know how they're going wrong. It's like they've googled 'cyoa', found us and slapped a name in front. But if they'd seen the site they'd know we were nothing to do with each other.

Our domain to all intents and purposes cyoa.agency, theirs is cyoa.eu

Their emails are all specificperson@cyoa.agency which, with the catch-all set up, come through to me at cyoa@cyoa.agency

    How can I stop this?

Change the catch-all to exclude specificperson@cyoa.agency? They try a few different specific people so even if I set it up to exclude one (assuming that's even possible) others would get through. I could just remove the catch-all altogether and just rely on dealing with enquiries from people who have actually read the fucking site and got the correct email. Other?

  • autoresponder that replies to people emailing specificperson@cyoa.agency that say "these are not the cyoas you're looking for" and automatically-archive their stupid messages?

  • Google doesn't seem to be making it obvious for me how to do that (we use google for business, so effectively a gmail back end) but I'll see if I can rig something with ifttt/similar

tbh though, thinking about it I think I've had about 3 actual of-interest requests via our website in nearly a decade. so just removing the catch-all probably makes the most sense. Just have the fear of 'what if that one big potential client spelt my name wrong..'

  • Anyone have a clue about Keller Sports. Just found out they went into liquidation in December. I can't reach their website at the moment. Have they stopped trading?

  • Did you apply at a specific passport office? The main one is/was in Milton Keynes iirc. Could try sending two docs that you don’t mind losing to HMPO there, care of passport renewals team, with a brief cover letter from you explaining what it’s for (include your ref #).

This might work, or it might not, or it might take weeks, but if you’re unable to get any further info it’s what I wager on.

  • What do you get if you go on the track your application site https://www.passport.service.gov.uk/track/ and enter your details.
For me an address appeared there that I had to send stuff to
    (HM Passport Office
    UK-EDP-FTA
    PEX Application Number
    PO BOX 231
    Bootle
    L20 7YW ).

  • Filling in pdf forms - my writing is fucking terrible so I would rather type to fill them in.

I only have to do this occasionally so paying £10 per month to adobe feels extortionate. Is there a free or one time payment app for IOS or Mac that I can use instead.

  • Do you have photoshop?
If so, you can open the PDF in PS and add text where necessary then save as...
It's a bit of a pain placing / sizing the text etc. but if you already have the software it's free.

  • latest version of Firefox browser claims to do this (have not tried it myself yet)
