I think he's still talking about "the fold". It was protected by a 20yr patent that expired in 2020, and in the usual order of things that engineering solution would now become public domain as a social good. But they still want to try to have the market to themselves, so they've pivoted to protecting using copyright law by claiming it as a "design" or artistic piece of work that goes beyond the mere engineering aspect - then they can protect it for, what, 80yrs?

What innovation is he talking about? The 1980s design? I like the Brompton design but the marketing as a cutting edge pice of tech is grating.
