No analog processing on my end of any kind (it'll either be going through Guitar Lab or my multi-effects pedal so any amp/cab stuff will be simulated) which simplifies matters at least.
Will have a look at those reamper boxes, still on the fence as to whether to do processing through the pedal on in the DAW.
The interface I'm getting (Arturia Minifuse2) can handle both mic &
lineinstrument level inputs so hoping there'll be no need for an additional pre-amp.Thanks again for the info!

Guitar input is not the same as mic input because of the impedance difference:

A hi-Z input is high impedance which is what the guitar requires for the best sound quality. A DI box or guitar preamp will ideally take the high impedance input and provide a low impedance output, eg on XLR, which you can send into the interface.
It maybe depends how analogue you want to be with the guitar signal processing (do you want to use amp emulations and cab sims, in the box effects, etc). If you want to use a valve amp you'll need a load box or something similar to get the amped output into the computer.
A lot of interfaces will have a "Hi-Z" input for taking an unamplified guitar signal. If you don't have that then you'll probably at least want a pre-amp of some kind.
Grabbing the un-amped/un-effected signal is definitely a good idea - you can use a simple splitter pedal to do that, for sure. If you wanted to you can use a reamper box like a Radial to play with effects after you've recorded your take.
