  • The Privileges Committee report is pretty damning. Unsurprisingly Johnson is trying to brass-neck his way out of it as ever.
Sadly will probably only end up with him getting a few days suspension, but always good to get partygate and his lying back in the public eye.

I feel like this is no accident. I think Labour have carefully thought this move through and concluded the same thing.

If so, getting Johnson and his cronies to come out against it with the associated stench of hypocrisy is tactical genius. I don't think anyone is going to change their mind about partygate or the inquiry now: the public reached their verdict long ago, even if Parliament hasn't.

But it's given voters a wonderful reminder that Johnsonites are lying hypocritical fucks without the imagination to realise that some people actually go about their job with more than a passing consideration of professional ethics and that we aren't all slimey self-serving Machiavellian fuckwits who would merrily push granny under a bus to move up in life and who are only in in to enrich ourselves/our mates/a company registered to our father-in-law.

Either way, I can't see how this isn't doing even more damage to the Tory party. Hurrah.
