I am completely organic in the garden but have no problem using pesticides on houseplants - I'm not going to eat them, they have no contact with the outside world in terms of soil or bees or whatever, and they only need spraying once in a blue moon. Had good results with 'bug clear ultra' to a similar looking pest (can't guarantee it was the same one though).

The leaves of my spider wort are going brown at the ends.
We just moved house and it was happy in the last place.
Any idea what causes this and how I can fix it?

Could be that it's too close to the radiator.

Any advice on how best to deal with what I think is honeydew? A sticky kind of sap residue. More recently it's been cropping up on the leaves of my lemon tree - usually give each leaf a wipe down with water, and then a pressure spray if it's a bit worse. Still flowering nicely, and it grew some new leaves out of nowhere recently

Look for the bugs which are producing it. Eliminate them.

Turned out we had infestations of several common house plant bugs.
"Trauermücke" (excuse the German), thrips and "weiße Mücke".
Got yellow sticky things to put in the soil for the adults, and neem oil based stuff for the bastards' spawn.
Had a big action with showering all plants, then spraying them all with the neem oil stuff, and are now continuing to water with the neem oil stuff to protect the plant and soil from the inside out.
The yellow sticky things are a great success, it's a very satisfying massacre.
Plants are much happier now, although we lost two additional due to the previous damage.

Talking of bugs, what are these little shits? They seem to be living in, or at least hanging out on the soil.

Fungus Gnats.
Nematodes then. To the garden centre.

Also get the yellow sticky things.
As said, the ensuing massacre is very gratifying. -

I tried cinnamon on the surface of the soil last week, fungus gnats have disappeared!

Exhibit A.
They're so tiny they're are hard to see with the naked eye.
We were really surprised at how many of them f*ckers are apparently cohabiting with us.

Literally just sprinkled cinnamon on the surface of the soil. Be generous, proper cover it. It's anti fungal.

Anyone have experience with looking after a large weeping fig?
I have one which I bought in Woolworth's for 99p some time in the '80s, so it's been with me for 40 years plus. This winter seems to have been quite hard on it, even though it's survived in that spot for the last 20 years.
I've just given it a bit of a prune, there were quite a few dead branches, and added some fresh soil. Hopefully it'll perk up. The room is ground floor north facing; i think ideally it would like a bit more light.

Here it is, foliage not as dense as I'd like.

random upside down chair and crutch make it a look a bit like we live in a squat. It's not quite as bad as that but that room is a bit of a "holding area" for things we are waiting to re-home / re-purpose / take to the dump.
the photo above is before pruning.

I think that makes you the expert...

it's a survivor, for sure.
i had an aloe aristata that i rescued from a compost heap when I was 8, it lived happily for another 15 years or so but then my mum over watered it whilst it was in her care. i was kind of devastated but my sister convinced me that all the baby aloes we had propagated from it over the years meant that it was still with us.
so i have a ridiculous sentimentality about house plants.
there are 3 of the aloe "babies" living in the pot of the ficus.
with the ficus, i'd just like it to look more lush.

Bit late to this but what the hell! Looks amazing! Mine is just a stick with some leaves up top!

I see them. Very cute.
Been having a lot of this. Utterly destroyed about 6 plants.
