So basically they've reinvented the thing that they did by default until they ruined it with 10/11 speed*. Probably because Advent X is eating into the low end market share.
Wonder if it's got a cool new bolt pattern as well just to make sure all your old stuff is redundant?
I hate Shimano's engineers
* yes it's not exactly the same thing but close enough

New SRAM force AXS just announced to the industry. Looks like new smaller shifter like rival and spindle power meters
Bang on update, finally good looking chainrings and shifters for Force. Spindle PM is the smart choice anyways, can run the fancy DM rings now without worrying about replacing the whole thing.

Going to have to throw my Force Supersix Evo in the bin now..
New Force looks much better TBH. It had big problems with front shifting and the plasticy chainset which looks to have been solved with this update - partially by moving to the stiffer one piece Red chainring design. When I swapped my Force chainrings over to Red it fixed my front shifting immediately so they've clearly clocked onto that.
Dont understand why they didnt update AXS Red first though? Much older groupset

SRAM being unable to make front derailleurs that work? You do surprise me...

Anyone else notice the black coating on SRAM PG-1130 cassettes turns into something worse than dirty chain lube? It's my fault for buying SRAM but I wanted full steel cassette (and didn't find a Shimano one). Seriously though, why are they coating moving parts with something that lasts about 2 minutes?

Dickheads. Just cover it in dirty chain lube like we've done for years.
I didn't even think about it when I ordered them. I'll probably need another one soon for my bike too but I'm tempted to try a 46T with Wolftooth. Does Shimano do a 46T with all steel cogs?

Microshift does

What is that? Does it work with normal Shimano 11s freehubs or only MTB shit?
-
• #8887
Do you genuinely need a steel largest? I presume your (much smaller) chainrings are alloy with no problems?
-
• #8888
It gets worse, the black coating makes them noisy AF as well.
They dropped the black coating on the newer AXS cassettes.

I've got two MTB cassettes that only skip in the two bigger alu rings, presumably because the alu wore faster than the steel cogs. Figured all-steel would last longer.

Sigh.
Oh well, at least both of them are on my partner's bikes and not mine :D

Oh that's annoying. I normally find the 10 wears quickest*
*that's a massive lie

We did win the Audax AAA thing last year so spent considerably more time in the granny gear than most people.

Sunrace does 11-46 all steel if you want something cheap and available. I got an XT one and the alloy cogs aren't lasting very well, also massive jumps in the easy gears, you end using only the alloy cogs for climbing at an easy pace.

Not a bad shout. My missus had a Sunrace cassette on her bike that seemed fine. It was black coated though - do they do non-coated ones?
-
• #8896
They do black or silver, I get silver for everyone since it's cheaper. There's a heavier versiĆ³n and one lighter with red ano alloy carriers but all cogs are steel in both. Shifting is worse than shimano, but that's the case with all aftermarket cassettes.

Discontinued according to SJS:( So I have to bin the whole cassette or hang onto what I have and hope to find a used one that has worn middle cogs or something.

Out of interest, whats the consensus on buying a new rival AXS groupset vs a used 11-speed Red groupset?
I just read this for that content
