About 30kg give or take.
It’s one aspect about the tiger I hate. It’s fucking porky. When it’s on the ground, cos it’s inline, it lays proper flat, which makes it hard work to pick up.
Seems like the 790 is better due to the tank.Dunno. Not a lot of mid weight bikes excite me. This does have the duty to sometimes carry my partner, and no way am I doing smaller.

Not a lot of mid weight bikes excite me.
Aprilia Tuareg 660 looks proper good...
Otherwise the Husqvarna Norden 901 and Ducati Desert X are both very spicy...

Most middleweights seem to be a compromise in the wrong direction

I'd love any of those. Tuareg hits the spot for me personally.
Alas, they're also leagues outside my budget, and I've also learnt my lesson to never buy first year bikes.@pdlouche I'm quite conflicted to be honest. Part of me really likes them, the other part just thinks 'get a proper dirt bike'. I don't have the skill or the need to ride dirt all the time, so I'll have to live with the compromises.
The major issues that scare me, are the mental amount of electronics, which aren't going anywhere. You cant do anything on the Desert X; down to the air filter!
I can see where this is going, the same way electronics are. No user serviceable parts.Maybe I should get an old Africa Twin and be done with it.

What is the range on these things like in the winter?
I was going to say get a cheaper bike for long distances - whatever a less old version of the Bandit S 1200 is. But £27k is a lot of money for a bike.

Range is allegedly around 150 miles mixed in summer. I need it to do about 110 in winter.
95% of my annual mileage is that commuting route so it’s pointless buying a second bike to do that / buying an electric one if it can’t do that.
I’m chatting with a dealer and should be able to borrow a test one for a few days later in the year.

Sorry, can't help you there.

Do it.
And lend me a go. -

I didn't have an issue moving my 990. It was heavy sure, but I could lift it and shift it fine.
Fucking miss that bike. I still remember being 2 up carving gorges du Verdon back in 2018 or so. What a trip.
If you get a 990 you will need to spend a few quid to get it properly renamed to make it ridable. And even then it's a beast with no electrics just waiting to kick you off.
Just looked at prices. Seems they've been solid. Inflation sucks.

Go ride a tuono 1000 factory.
If I found some money I'd get one of them I think.
But alas, dreaming so I'll live vicariously. -

For similar reasons I'm on the lookout for a nice Yamaha XTZ750 Super Tenéré at the moment...

Today I passed my module 2 exam. I couldn't believe it - could have swore than I failed several times on the test.
Also just had the first ride on my CB550. Fucking hell. It's super small & super noisy, and feels super fast. I still can't believe that inline 4 sound comes from an old bike like this.
It needs some work - potentially over fuelling as when you come off the throttle hard it pops and bangs like an old WRC car. That and it's leaking like a sieve, so gets a bit smokey when stuck in traffic.

Crackling on the overrun is not really a problem. You have to find a happy medium with analog carbs and sometimes that's part of the picture.

Welcome to the 550 4 cylinder club..
What year is that 80/81?
Very very lovely bike

Well done, you’re a proper grown up now.
I love the paint job on that tank.

I assume you've seen this, it's not exactly to my taste or probably yours but the rundown of parts might interest you and it sounds wicked
-
• #22947
Nicely done, now to enjoy the bike properly.

Congrats on passing the test!
Bike looks great too.
I still haven't bought a bike. Anyone selling?

Still selling my sorted out CBR600F3. Still not fussed when it goes.
Friends have/love the 950/990 Adventure (R). Absolutely massive beasts. I'm 6ft and a bit weak. I can move the DR350 no stress, I moved the Blackbird without a hernia, but the 990? I could barely get it off the centre-stand to have a sit.
How much smaller/lighter is the 790?
