The ONLY thing Campag has going for it, is the quite nice looking Ekar crank.
The rest of it is shite.

This is the first time I have caught you talking aesthetics on a bike. Will savour the moment while thinking about your planet X TT bike.

Don't think I've ever even owned a bike for longer than 2 years
-
• #8855
Not quite true - normally I talk about how bad my parts choice looks.
To be fair, I am removing the Ekar cranks from the bike to replace with GRX cranks. Not for looks, but because I don't want Campag on any of my bikes.

I had never considered anything sram until I saw the price difference between Rival and 105 di2. It’s almost a £500 difference at retail which is basically the cost of another mechanical hydro groupset. If you can get it trade, rival doesn’t cost much more than mechanical which is its main selling point to me. Chorus is too expensive when you can now get ultegra for half the price.
Multiple batteries is surely the price of wireless? But cheap looking shifters and heavy cranks…

Spend the spare money in some sweet cranks, SRAM red or rotor.
10 cog is a non issue, I'd say it's a benefit for everyone but the strongest riders. Big rings are cool though -

Tres confused by this
First gcn says that modern sora is better than classic DA then Shimano bins all mid level groups? https://bikerumor.com/shimano-cues-mid-tier-mtb-groups-intercompatible-9-10-11-speed-components-affordable-1x/

dbad had modern sora, that was its death
-

It's all that new linkglide stuff that's impossible to buy innit, needs to work together so you can piece together a working set up out of the one available part every month.

New SRAM force AXS just announced to the industry. Looks like new smaller shifter like rival and spindle power meters

Yup!

Sick. Best hand model I've seen all year

Looks like a few improvements but integrating the PM into the chainrings seems wasteful
-
• #8869
Yeah it is pretty wank tbf. They offer a 50% discount when you trade in your old 2x PM rings though but still...
Those black 2x rings do look a bit nicer than the current Red 2x rings. Wondering if they will be cheaper but they look identical other than the colour.
-
• #8870
Was just reading that they’ve dropped the replacement discount to 10%
Tbf I’m not actually sure I’ve ever replaced chainrings before I’ve replaced a bike but still…
-
• #8871
I recognise that ring

ooft I got really indignant there since I have the pm chainrings... but googled and the 50% still applies to the red pm
but yeah, I'm not even sure I'll wear the rings out within the 5 year period anyway.
Force with the new 2x chainrings and nicer levers does kinda make Red a hard sell. Not sure what fancy bells and whistles can be added to an updated Red groupset to make it worthwhile over Force.
Rival groupset but with new Force crankset seems like the smart choice now -

I feel like there should be a thread I can quote that in
-

Fortunately there’s no Shit Buyers Say thread
Because they don't need replacing every 2 years. :)
