It’s funny, I went back and looked and they’re under 12mm which isn’t too bad really (maybe not great on a 37mm watch though) so I was wondering what my objection to them was. Maybe it was more that they didn’t look like they were worth the asking price, especially the finishing on the hands. I did like the bracelet though.

New watch day, and my first Seiko 5 Sport after a long time watching the many models, I saw this srpg39k1 in the shop.
Lovely brass numbers with a subtle glint on a dark blue back. Might put a NATO strap...

Grats. 👍
Reminds me, I didn’t see any mention of the new line of flieger & field style Seiko 5s that are 36mm(!). Kudos to Seiko for these.

Oh, I see. Re: Rolex, it's just the constant conversation about prices, availability and "value" that bores the absolute stuffing out of me. It's unavoidable though.

That basically defines the run up to getting one, then you just have a nice watch. Nothing different here in SG on the availability front.

Thankfully it wasn’t like that when I got mine. I tried on a bunch of sizes and colours, put a deposit down and it arrived in 6 weeks when they got their next delivery from Geneva. None of the nonsense you get now (although to be fair it was already difficult to get a Sub then).

oh that reminds me did I tell you that I have just reinsured my watch (after valuation from the place I bought it) for just shy of double what I paid for it

Beautiful 🤌
I got this for a mate and get to play with it. Surprisingly, apart from the crown action/movement feel (as usual with Rolex), it does nothing for me. The hands/indices reflect on the crystal in a weird way which makes it look cheap. The ROLEXROLEXROLEX thing is just tacky.
Oh, the clasp is nice too…

I quite like that! The blue version is a favourite of mine, in that config, steel bezel and jubilee bracelet.
Is it a new vs vintage thing? I like both, but the vibe is definitely different between modern and vintage ones.

Long time lurker, occasional poster here - Tokyo-based for 10 years or so.
Definitely better off heading to Nakano Broadway instead of Shibuya if you only have 1 day. If you can rush it, might be worth heading to Ginza too on the same day but thats going to keep you quite busy. Nakano broadway has a bunch of shops on the 3rd floor, Jack Road is the biggest but there are lots. Don't see many Sinn's in my experience, but you might get lucky. Lots of the shops here sell via Chrono24, so if you can find a listing there you might be able to go see one in the flesh.

Looks great. I already have a black one, but very tempted by a honeycomb on Sunday.
On a full gold Explorer? It’s better than the two-tone one I guess, but it wouldn’t be my thing.
