  • Thanks both. I’m 4 weeks into couch to 5k and also starting to cycle again after a few years of irregular activity.

    Suspect it’s a combination of weak calves/ankles and overall tightness due to sitting at a desk/long distance drives etc.

    Massage roller sounds like a sensible purchase alongside stretches and slowly building up strength.

    Have a 10k in late May so that’s my goal.

  • Definitely try a massage gun too. You might want to look at the heel to toe drop on your running shoes as well. Usually too low a drop brings calf problems, no idea if it works the other way round though.
