So, impetuous purchases abound and budgets be damned!
I'll spare you the sordid details, (at least until I'm less embarrassed by the current Karate Monkey-with-Trickstuff-brakes dynamic I've landed myself with) how in the name of all that is holy do I marry an Ortofon Quintet Red MC cart with the Capacitance settings on my Piccolaesque phono stage? Please and thank you.

Need an amp, anyway. I suggested 560S' as they're about as high as you can go in Sennheiser's line up before amplification is required.

Huh. When I was setting up my Trichord Dino phono stage with a Goldring E3, the Goldring website gave capacitance and load resistance figures that made sense. The Ortofon website doesn’t seem to be as helpful!

Ah, yes.. forgot about that.

Not just me then.

I've never seen a phono stage with so many capacitive settings for mc.
Seems it's confusing and controversial https://www.audionirvana.org/forum/the-audio-vault/analog-playback/phonostages/172547-capacitive-loading-for-mc-the-vertere-phono-1-mk-iil -

New arrival for spring. So, so pleased with it. The difference from my Pro-Ject is astonishing.

Wait until you get into all the different types of lilies you can sit on your speakers, then it gets expensive. You really get in to the worm hole when you discover Japanese flower arranging, don’t google Ikebana what ever you do!

I posted that photo on a Rega FB group and caused a bit of consternation, I had no idea people felt so strongly about daffodils.

And rightfully so. Send that vase to the windowsill!

Wait until you get into all the different types of lilies
Particularly the gilded kind

Don’t you start!
The vases, one on each side, have been there for a decade (previously lived on top of the B&Ws) without incident. The vases are hefty and won’t vibrate off, and they’re on cork coasters to stop them slipping.

Why does everyone hate spring?

Ultimately moisture will condense on the glass, slowly creep down and make a nice circular stain on the veneer

Did anyone mention the missing counterweight?

I was in the middle of assembling it, all present and correct. I was surprised how easy it was to set up, actually. Very impressed with the tonearm.

I was given an old P3 last summer. Thought I'd give it a go with no expectations and I'm still using it. The P8/P10 are now on my potential upgrade path along with a Michell Gyro, Technics 1210G and Linn LP12.

I’ve been after a Rega turntable because I was recently very impressed by a P3.
I was looking for a P6 when I found this RP8. It’s probably more turntable than I need, but it was a good price with an Apheta 3 cartridge included.
Less impressed by the Rega Fono MC phono stage that it came with. It’s nice enough, but a bit sedate for my taste. The turntable really came alive when I hooked it up to my Trichord Dino, so I’ll be keeping that.

It should be a great combination. I wonder if you would see much improvement mounted on a solid wall away from the speaker. Just can't help but think it must be subject to quite a bit of vibration there.

Take those lovely resonant lids off your turntables when playing records k thanks bye.
-
• #11972
Yeah, it’s a concern. The whole living room is about to be redone though, so I’ll take the opportunity to relocate the turntable.
-
• #11973
But… the lid is attached to the ‘surround’ plinth, which is completely decoupled from the weird skeleton plinth. Shouldn’t have much effect?
-
• #11974
It's a lovely setup. Should be endgame really?!?

Turntable, speakers, probably yes. Amp, no. But watch this space.
Never really used them, but these were my dads. Need to try them out really. The problem I have with cups that size and shape is that they pinch and make my ears sore after a while, especially when wearing glasses. I have the HD25s and the HD25sps and actually prefer the sps as they don’t put as much pressure on my ears.
Not what you’re looking for but lately I’ve been using some cheap noise cancelling headphones I bought for a flight (Anker Soundcore Life Q20). They also can go wired. Sound great but mostly just very comfortable.
