With regards to the noodles with barrel adjustment, if you can find some TRP ones, they're great. If not, go for inline ones, BBB do em, they work just as well, and probably a bit cheaper.

I should have listened to you... my stupid plan of "buy something mid-nice level and then get the GOOD ones later" was incredibly flawed.

Got some Dia Compe barrel adjuster levers only to find out... they weren't brake noodles and they were meant for levers (STUPID).

Threw a hissy fit on the weekend with grand aspirations of getting the bike built and done and got some /nonamegeneric/ ones from micycle.

Bike still isn't built.

And I've now spent 22 quid on NOODLES!!

this lovely little thing from bike punx did arrive though (apologies front derailleur camp but the existing one was pretty seized up and rusted so i gave up pretty quickly)

Got the wife @Maj to sort out the V Brake cabling yesterday - then took it out for a spin (yes my brakes are set up... wonky and European. They'll stay European but not wonky.

Took a short ride down to Sainsburys and was overall, incredibly pleasant. I need to move forward the saddle rails by a fair bit and move that brake lever positioning. But apart from that, there's a little bit of squeaking so rather than do the chainring myself and spend the rest of my time becoming increasingly worried about any noise the bike makes, I'll take it down to Clever Mike soon and ask them to swap it to 1x and give it a once over with all the brakes and gears soon. I've heard they're a lovely bunch!

Rear rack is on! Adds some heft to it but will be a dream for the grocery runs... rides beautifully (now I've tinkered with some bits (moving the saddle rails was a big one).

Taking it down to clever mikes thursday eve for the 1x conversion and fine-tuning - looking forward to it :D

Love the bike and the build, but that brown saddle belongs on a British racing green frame. It’s killing the vibe.
Also, I’m not sure if your rear tyre is seated correctly, definitely needs to be deflated so the tube can be rotated a bit to get the valve straight

Funnily enough - that's exactly the description of the pacer with British racing green...

I've been craving a cut out saddle after new pains, but still wide. So I might get a Selle Diva or Brand X womens to try on it.

Also you're bang on with the tyre. Deflated it and reinflated the other day but still don't think it's seated correctly. Before though the valve was bang on diagonally seated.

So. Having a wild time with this build, took it in to Clever Mikes for a checkup and...

• chain and freewheel are worn
  
• bb has some play
  
• rear wheel is buckled
  
  

and they're sorting that.

However, I got possessed by a demon overnight (finishing up a freelance client), my hand slipped, I've somehow ended up with this in my ebay purchases (how!?!)

i'd already confirmed i wanted the current wheels sorting and was fully prepared to go "ah well, no worries if i gotta double pay" but thought i'd message in case they hadn't started

super chill and said no worries, bring the new wheels when they arrive and they'll revise the quote- they've got a sunrace thumbie in stock they can install too and let me know it's a 26.8 seatpost (will keep peepers out for nice ones / ideally with adjustable plate position)

was going to drop the pacer to a friend to take over it, then somehow... this has happened. how that can even happen to a chainring is beyond me. RIP-peroni. also recently had the life lesson of "south london is much further than you think" after mucking about a v kind wald seller on here - relinquished it back and going to splash a bit more to get one from CM (if i say ill get something from south london anytime soon, shoot me)

Rides like a dream, the difference a new wheelset can make is actually ridiculous. 2.3s are perfect. It's all just perfect.

Also shout out to Clever Mike, couldn't ask for a better LBS. From me changing the job 3x bc I'd ordered new bits on ebay and them just going "sounds great! sure!" to all the little things like dynamo shrink wrap being colour coordinated, drilling the guard to secure it to the rack. They're just great people... and also great mechanics too.

Dynamo works a charm, all you need for a city and being visible to drivers. Rack works a dream, friction works a dream (CM got the old 7 speed derailleur to work on the new 9 speed cassette!)

Couldn't be happier really. Love it to bits.
