• About 30kg give or take.
It’s one aspect about the tiger I hate. It’s fucking porky. When it’s on the ground, cos it’s inline, it lays proper flat, which makes it hard work to pick up.
Seems like the 790 is better due to the tank.

Dunno. Not a lot of mid weight bikes excite me. This does have the duty to sometimes carry my partner, and no way am I doing smaller.

Aprilia Tuareg 660 looks proper good...

Otherwise the Husqvarna Norden 901 and Ducati Desert X are both very spicy...

  • I'd love any of those. Tuareg hits the spot for me personally.
Alas, they're also leagues outside my budget, and I've also learnt my lesson to never buy first year bikes.

@pdlouche I'm quite conflicted to be honest. Part of me really likes them, the other part just thinks 'get a proper dirt bike'. I don't have the skill or the need to ride dirt all the time, so I'll have to live with the compromises.
The major issues that scare me, are the mental amount of electronics, which aren't going anywhere. You cant do anything on the Desert X; down to the air filter!
I can see where this is going, the same way electronics are. No user serviceable parts.

Maybe I should get an old Africa Twin and be done with it.

  • Working myself up to buying a new Tuareg 660, probably yellow. Few shops are struggling to shift them so have them on at £8500-8995 out the door. Haven't found a demo yet as shops keep selling them (MC shops need to sort this out, so many bikes I didn't even bother looking at as no one has a demo, do folks REALLY just spend £10-20k on a bike without even an idea what its like? For me its an absolute requirement that my ass + legs don't go numb and it doesn't buffet).

Old BMW is either going as it is, or might refresh engine, been sat all winter and now valve stem seals have gone, leaks oil into cylinder pretty quickly causing starting issues + smoke. Pretty simple job on old rotax engine, but honestly kind of fed up trying to make bikes work.
