Yeah, I really like the magnetic bars and it probably is the correct option but then aesthetics get in the way as that back wall will be totally clear bar the douglas fir shelf that runs the whole way along, my current plan was to make one of these kind of in-draw solutions.

why not get a bit of the wood you're using and get a magnetic bar made from it? #matchymatchy

I have one of these which I find keeps blades safe and minimising contact with the wood so they stay sharp.

Anywhere to hang a tea towel ? I personally can’t stand them on the oven door as you have to peer through to see in. We have bars at either end of the island to hang them over

i generally prefer not to keep knives in a drawer. Get a nice magnetic bar (like this) for them and have them on display and away from where someone might cut themselves reaching into a drawer
