Interesting idea on the island drawers - I quite liked the different pull out drawers but maybe worth seeing it mocked up…
Square end of the island is a little bookshelf thing but now that you’ve mentioned a wine fridge…
There is an extractor in the ceiling towards the left hand wall which uses an old floo.
@NickCJ high up pots are things like casserole dishes or Hotpot which are used maybe 5-15 times per year. With the under stairs storage and utility room we have enough storage for all the things.
The island has 4 sockets, round end has 4 cupboards for big electrical items, prep will happen on island. We don’t like hob or sink on the island. Island has a lip. Draining board is under the sink and grooves routed into worktop next to sink. Prep will be done either side of hob or on the island. Between the dining table and island then is close to 6m of space in the room.
@TW wash and clear is the zone by sink - scrape food into bins, rinse in sink, load into dishwasher. Think that works? I do hear your point about prep but think this works ok
Wireless/usb charges are a no-no for me as they break/become redundant over time.
Think knives separately from cutlery is normal or do others have those mixed together? I have too many knives for that I think… @platypus good call on all of the pots and pans being low - might do a swap around with serving plates.
@andos we have Rice and Noodles in industrial quantities - so there’s the daily use containers and the 10kg sack the other side of kitchen! That draw would be mugs, teas, other hot drinks - mugs on the other side are for coffee. Was the setup we had before and worked well. Do you keep that toddler stuff in the kitchen? I’d earmarked the bottom left drawer for Tupperware and misc stuff for some of that but maybe not enough space…there is a lot of that stuff eh!

Our 5 year old has already commandeered two kitchen cupboard with water bottles, lunch boxes and all kinds of shit. Then there are general small peoples drugs that you inevitably buy too much of but seems wasteful to throw it away.
Saying that you look to have 5 time the storage space of our place so I'm sure you'll be fine.
It looks like an awesome space.

If prep is on the island, knives might be better there also. Utensils by the hob, where you use them.
Spices by the oven - might get too warm, which they don't like.
Mugs & hot drinks between prep & cook means nobody can do hot drinks during meal prep.
Similarly, dishwasher by the oven - the other side would mean that it can be emptied at any time.
Does the island just have drawers on one side? It's all where the prep & cooking is being done - lot's of scope for overlap & being on top of each other.

I refuse to have my knives and cutlery stored together.
Partly knife care, but also keeping knives out of child's hands.Depends on how you like to cook, I like having commonly used items outside of drawers for easy access, like knives on a magnetic bar, commonly use utensils, tray of oils, salt, pepper, soy sauce, sesame oil.
I like the idea of a seamless island, I lack a spacious prep surface, so an island like yours would be a dream.
I like the single-face to the wall drawer units. Why are you choosing not to do these to the island which would be cleaner looking than the 9x drawer fronts/routed handles.
What’s going on to the square end of the island unit? You can get pretty narrow wine fridges (300mm) which might fit in this area if this is a serious want.
Also, no extractor above the hob?! U mad bro?
Looking good though and have been enjoying your updates!
