The grrl's crank fell off (or at least became very fucking loose). She's denying the last person to touch it was the LBS but I'm pretty sure they installed a replacement BB for her because I couldn't be arsed with it.

Did the Edinburgh Alpkit winter gravel ride today. A nice dusting of snow/ice going through the Pentlands.

Had to walk down the final hill of the day because it turns out my brake pads were worn to the point of non-existence. Oops.

Have to regrow some motivation to get out on the ice cold Scottish gravel myself after the week away.

My body hates me but I managed to get 80k and 1000m vert out of it on Sunday, plus a nice view.

Up in Shropshire for the week seeing family and very glad I brought the monster truck as am having huge fun exploring on and off-road up here. About 30 mins on the peaceful lanes and you’re into endless hills, bridleways, super techy descents and savage climbs. Had a huge amount of fun today - got totally lost in the best possible way.

Cold and drizzly here. Found a new sofa though and a wonderfully neon AHOY sign.

I spent Thurs, Fri and Sun doing some fixie loops (did I mention I ride fixed) around Wye / Crundale and Dengie Wood. Pretty typical stuff for me, but there is a good vista at the top of Crundale. However the cold mist on Sunday made for a particularly nice one, thought I'd share:

Well it wasn’t the weekend but on Thursday I rode from London to Bristol as I had to be in Bristol for work on Friday. Elevation more like 2000m and legs definitely fell off during the last hour and a half as the cold and wet started to get to me. Typical luck that Thursday was the first day it had rained in weeks. The lanes were filthy and the headwind was pretty grim for most of it. Nice route though.

Fun day on the bike yesterday. Did KBK cyclo with a few friends and we started from Ghent. 220km of sun, rain and lots of wind. https://www.strava.com/activities/8621792352

Good effort. Thinking of doing this route in reverse soon. Should have a tail wind if the prevailing wind is blowing. That was impressive average speed for that distance into a headwind.

But just imagine it.

Still on my 'No chamois for 2023' quest, Upto 50 mile rides now in the runderwear long boxers, and they're so comfortable. (With trail trousers over them...).
I've found loads of cafes appearing in Marinas now, which is great for ashoc stops.

I hit a badger this morning! thankfully I’d just about got the bike to a stop so it was more a case of a gentle rub with the front tire. All involved were fine. It was a fucking big badger!

You’re lucky it didn’t turn round and rip your leg off, they can be fighty little buggers

Various winter lergys and family crap have meant miles have been hard to come by over recent months. Finally built myself up to something a bit more like it today - 60k round rolling Warwickshire. I'm intrigued by the advertised Omloop event next weekend. Highlight was finding an awesome cider place for a liquid lunch in Napton. £3.50 a pint (two halves for me) as an Easter offer. Sat in sun it was perfect - I needed that.

Liége Bastogne Liége.
Did the small north loop first instead of last, what a terrible, awful piece of cycling that was. Should not have been on those roads, especially in the morning. We almost sacked it off after that but glad we recomposed and got on with it.
-4 in the valleys but warmed up and turned into a nice ol' shift. Front Di2 mech died a death at 60 miles so had 100 miles in the small ring but its not a route you miss the big ring too much anyway. 158 miles, 15000ft, bit of cycling history, still smiling at the top of La Redoute (DONT DO THE LIEGE LOOP)

Flooded and windy were the themes today. (That's the road under all that water).
