Thanks all. Quite happy with how it stands now.

Looks great, thank you for validating it wasn’t just me being a shitty mechanic by saying you also found them annoying to set up

They have integrated the pad clearance and the spring tension into one part. It's clever, but now you can't adjust those two things independently. On top of that, you have to use two tools simultaneously to adjust the pad clearance/spring tension: a spanner and a hex key.
I had to look up a video by Paul himself, just to install the things! Lovely video by the way, and it looks pretty clean.

Right?!, bastard things, also if you have mid section rims if you do not angle and align the pads perfectly it just destroys the rim finish.
His bike videos largely responsible for the last 4-5 builds I’ve done, v charming

all paul brakes are awful to adjust
avid shorty ultimate similar mechanism but easier adjustment

Ali express is just great

He’ll never forget what you did for him.

I actually contacted that Aliexpress seller asking if they can CNC 'AMEY' on those brakes instead of Paul
-
• #439
Wait, those are not actual Pauls??
-
• #440
And?!!
-
• #441
No clearance for guards tho
-
• #442
Guards wouldn't fit under the fork with 48s anyway. Bike is designed around 42mm tyres.

Hey Tijs, up there to know if 47 tires are fine one this iteration of the LB. Thinking about pulling the trigger but I want to be sure I will ba able to put Teravail Cannonball on it. Thanks :)
PS : Fucking nice built you have here !

47c are a perfect fit.
Cool you're getting one too. Are you going to create a project page? Let me know how it goes!

Thanks dude !
Already riding an Evasion but trying to find something lighter (Here are som pic ) :
I'm trying to put my hands on an XL Bolt frameset since one month as I missed the last batch on Crust website (No more size for tall flamingos like me...)... Also tried to find a Disc one but these are rare birds and not showing easily ... All riders seems to keep em' !
How do you like yours ?

This is amazing.

Great Evasion.
I like my Bolt, but it's an acquired taste for sure. The rim brakes, 1" threaded headset, low trail fork, limited tyre clearance... It's basically a classic rando bike.
Have you considered the Bombora? Especially with the carbon fork, it's a great all-round gravel bike. 60 and 62cm both in stock. ;)

Thanks guys !
Yeah ! I also had the Romanceür in mind. The fact is I already have a solid hardtail and realized after many biketrips that I'm constantly reducing the tire width... Based in france, we have something like 90% Road and 10-15% soft gravel path on all of our trips. I'm actually on Teravail sparwood 2.1 wich is really close to the 47 cannonball....
The Bolt seems pretty good as a daily bike you can load a little to take a soft biketrip.

I also really like the Romanceür, and considered getting that instead of the Bolt. But I thought it might've been to similar to my Muddy Fox, so got the Bolt instead.

In other news: washed this bike for the first time since I got it. Almost forgot it has a nice sparkle.
