I do vinyl wraps. Mostly vehicles but we'll tackle anything, we did some fridges recently. A bike frame would be time consuming to get right and cutting it in around the lugs/tube joints would be a real bitch. It's not a DIY job if you want a top notch finish.

If I wanted to wrap (well, half-wrap) my Carbon forks with satin-black vinyl to cover up the gash logos, would I need to apply any heat to the vinyl to get it to stick?
Does it have an actual adhesive on it, or use some other magic to cling to cars 'n' shit?
Forks have a satin clearcoat on them. -

i wrapped a bike already, amateur effort but thought the result was pretty encouraging. Used a hairdryer and a scalpel, took me a whole weekend but was good fun.
pros:
— keeps the original paint intact, if you're careful
— if one area is scratched, you can just replace that panel
— it's quite easy to play with designs, if that's your thingcons:
— lugs can be done with a bit of patience, but braze-ons and dropouts are almost a guaranteed no-no
— colours are somewhat limited (that being said, most of the colours look great on vinyl) -

You could use heat shrink tubing, available from any electrical wholesalers in a range of diameters. Comes in both adhesive and non-adhesive, get the non-adhesive if you want to remove for the summer.

D R E D G E . . . . . .
Anybody know anyone that would vinyl wrap a helmet for me? Doesn't have many holes so it's not super intricate.
Or reckon I could DIY it???

Thing is you need a bit of heat from a hot gun and that will not go well with polystyrene. Plus voiding your warranty

Great idea!
Only you need to disassemble the frame to get the heatshrink tube on.

And time travel

Be worth it tho
Not sure if this has been covered or not (there's a few threads on vinyls stickers) but anyone heard about vinyl wrapping?
My wife's a designer and has used this company a couple of times to get stuff wrapped in pretty designs (most recently a radio). She was telling me it looked really quality, and i said it might be a cool thing to do to a bike. Also apparently if you get sick of the design you can just peel the bad boy off and you're sorted.
She was talking to them today and apparently they've never done a bike but were quite excited about the idea. Not that cheap though - tenner for materials but 50 bucks an hour for labour - they estimated 2 hours for a frame.
I was thinking perhaps a frame is a little too thin to be worth it, but a 'spok or disc wheel'd would look pretty sweet... They can do any design you email 'em...
Probably not going to do it myself due to lack of cash, but thought some of the mroe creative builders on here might be interested...
