I had problems with flat bars hurting my wrists, swapped to something with a bit more sweep & it has helped. Have some On-One OGs on at the moment, which happen to be on sale.

Ergon GA3 are the only grips I can use with flat bars.
After that I'd try some bars with more sweep like @GideonPARANOID suggested.
I've had good luck with On One Marys, Nitto Albatross, Ritchey Kyote and Ergotec/Humpert Touluse -
Veeery nice, purple and silver is just class.
As others have said, swept bars are the way to go. I prefer mine with the Ergon GP1 grips. For cheap bars, I can recommend Procraft City OS, and Ergotec Climber. None of them seems to be available in silver with a 31.8 clamp though, but the Ergotec City Cruiser bars are, and they look a lot like the Climbers.

My old Univega beater, here pictured enjoying some southern Swedish sleet on the way to work.
Love this thing, but the handlebars are killing me - any suggestions? Mostly riding it through the city (unfortunately).
