Great idea for the space, we use the back one with a binbag for general waste, and the front one without, for mixed recycling. The front is used for the recycling because it fills up twice (or more) as quickly as the general waste, so gets emptied more often. Also this frees up under sink space for junk (or a Quooker and junk), wouldn't look back.
Snap - I do exactly the same, just open it out far enough for worktop debris to be wiped into the back bin, excellent lazy living solution. I also cook with it open and it's ace, tomato tins etc straight into recycling, general waste just behind it.
