It's here, leather on the strap is super soft and feels like it will break in very well, there is a slightly brushed back to them.
Taken a few pictures, sits very nicely and seems to be built very well too, lume is cool too.

Nice looking watch.
Probably was only £2k when new (edit:don't actually know 😂)
This was when it was still a tool watch rather than eye candy. Different target markets.
Pure gossip I think there might be a new coke this year. But knowing rolex they'll mess it up.

Ref 16710 in 1996 was ~ £2250 ($3500@1.56). Impressive guess.

It was always eye candy. Especially once they started using white gold for the markers (like on that model). But from the beginning they were very much luxury products marketed at people using the glamour of aviation, etc.
It's just that people also needed a good watch, unlike now, so they were also very good, reliable, functional watches.

You've got it. Ive tried to suggest other options but her ideal watch would probably be to keep using her INSTRMNT thing that keeps breaking. So yeah the nomos design is exactly on point for her.
@Regal "For a small casual-ish watch they're nice. I think it comes down to whether the design language is right for you - they really have their own niche, so if you like that type of Bauhaus design it'll hit the mark. AnOrdain are maybe in a similar wheelhouse but the waiting list is very long indeed."
They are very nice, I'm in Glasgow so always seen their ads around the subway etc. Looking at 2027 for their waiting list, which is ridiculous.

What’s the Regal opinion on the one I tried on?
-

You are right... I just meant it was more tool-y
For me, I feel horrible inside paying 11k (that's 5.5 times?) over rrp rather than 2k over rrp for a new one. ..
But then again an old skool coke is lush.

Probably cause they were rated for 100M (the older GMT was 50M).

Fraser Hart has small selection of cheapest Nomos in UK (was eyeing club date over cmass sales period with extra 10%off)
Minimatik and Metro Neomatik only 35mm, lug to lug 42mm

I love the reference but that's far too much money for that example, IMHO. The case is heavily overpolished and the dial and hands are clearly service replacements (very probably the crown, crystal and bezel insert too). A 1996 16710 would have had a "T<25" tritium dial originally.
If it was £5k it would be a nice way to get a Coke GMT on the wrist but it's not remotely an "investment piece".

Yeah 'apparently' the Root Beer is being discontinued. That came from the Tudor AD in Battersea. Guess that would make way for the final return of the Coke but we all love a rumour.

Thanks, that's answered that!

Not sure it's worth it but I quiet like a 2012 "Tribute to Deep Sea" super compressor Memovox from JLC for that price rather.

This is great, love the Coke too, both awesome watches.

That’s very nicely executed isn’t it.

I bought a brand new 16710 Coke for £1850 in 1998.

This.
The case has been badly refinished/ over polished. All four lugs are much thinner than they were. So much so the spring-bar protrudes thru the lug top left.
Probably why it wears smaller than you imagined.
I’d avoid that one.

I like it, but it has a weird case back!

Or do I...
I don't know...
