Finally got around to watching ‘All quiet on the Western Front’ wow, loving the Black Sabbath inspired soundtrack.

I had to watch it in stages. It's fucking grim, obvz.
The scene in the crater when the main protagonist is fighting for his life was just desperate. I couldn't bear to watch it.
Having said all that, it was fantastic. I thought the score lent alot to the whole atmosphere.
Of course it’s grim. published 95 years ago, sold 2.5 million copies in 22 languages in its first 18 months in print.
As anti war stories go, still the best.
