  • Congrats man. That’s the harder one

  • Is it straight or with the angle?

I searched and bought a few from Am*zon that claimed to be the correct diameter. Once I found the longest they sold, I wrapped it with an offcut of exhaust wadding and used Holts to seal it a bit. Been happy ever since. Less noisy, but not much drop in power.

My exhaust is the Dominator out of Poland, hence the need for the baffles. It's very lightweight, probably because there's practically no baffling inside. Once quietened down a bit (like above) it works well enough.

  • By the way, now that the season will be starting in earnest, the CBR600F3 is officially for sale for £2k. High price because that's what I want for it. All the paperwork for the work done, all the evidence of servicing, MOT's etc, and rarity of colourway.

  • Straight.

Yeah I did the Amazon thing before and non fit good. Will have a look and measure

  • My mate is thinking of picking up a bike in Italy and bringing it back to UK... something cheap like a £1500-2000 Ducati Monster.

What sort of import costs could he expect to get it on UK plates?

  • Can’t remember if it was amazon or ebay? They were all much of a muchness but I might have swaged the metal come to think of it.

  • Well done, 80% there now.

  • Might not be a bad shout. Last I checked you gotta pay 20% VAT or something.
Monsters are going up in price. Especially old trellis framed ones.

  • Nice one.
Good luck on the mod 2.
You can never do too many lifesavers, turn your head to check your mirrors, remember to turn off the indicators.

  • Passed my Mod 1 and Mod 2 today 😇

  • Congrats! It’s an awesome feeling.

  • Yeah pretty chuffed. It opens up a new world.

Felt for the other learner. Passed his Mod 1 but nerves crashed and burned his Mod 2. So I saw what the face of disappointment looked like too.

  • That sucks.
I failed my mod 2. Perfect score (no minors) but turned right from a left hand lane in a one way street. Instant fail. Knew I’d failed as soon as I made the turn too.

Passed second time with a single minor so at least nerves didn’t get me.

Enjoy the freedom; it’s ace. Don’t be a bellend though. Loads of accidents happen ok peoples first few rides on their big bike.

  • Well worth doing some advanced training.

  • @Soul @skinny

Thanks both. Defo going to be taking it easy. Don't want to add to the statistics.

Also, I'll only use it when the conditions are optimal. Won't need to ride in the rain or ice etc.

And some advanced training definitely on the agenda.

  • I did the police ride safe scheme. Was pretty good though there are longer / more advanced ones too.

  • I've heard that's excellent. From someone who has been riding 30 years. Would also like to do some off road training. Partly because I want to. And partly as my mountain biking definitely helps with road bike handling. So hoping the same might apply when horsepower is involved.

  • All these people passing their tests… did I mention my CBR600 was for sale ? Ha!

    Congrats

  • Such great news, chuffed for you. Now the adventure begins!

  • I enjoyed it. Even got lunch at Frankie and bennys 🤣.

There were some good elements on road positioning and what I would call positive filtering / decisions.

It was only one day though. Would still 100% recommend it if you can do it.

  • Ace news, time to share your big bike wish list.

  • @Ramsaye I'm a bit embarrassed to say I already have an 890 Duke GP waiting for me in the garage. I wanted a naked so the wind blast helps keep my speeds sensible and although it's challenging asthetically, the position is perfect for me and critically I got a massive discount in the quiet winter lull a couple of months ago. Probably way too much bike for a newb but I didn't want to have something I'd grow out of quickly.

Further down the line I'd also like to test ride a CRF300 Rally either to compliment it for year round/mild off road use or as a straight replacement. But for now I just want to go get some miles under the belt and learn what I want/don't want from a bike.

  • Phwoar! Good work. I’d love a go on one of those, they look like serious fun.

  • 890 Duke GP

    Jealous!!

A 990 SMT was my first bike. You'll be alright.
