  • Richard E Grant double watching at the Baftas.

  • He always wears two, one is set to Swaziland time, think it was his dad's

  • Congratulations.

    Now that is a rock.

  • Cheers 🙂

Camera angle, see first pic for better perspective. I love the side ones... Trillions. Sparkly little devils. (I want to call them cute but it was suggested that I wasn't allowed to...)

  • Be honest, when you look at the ring, does your mind drift off to which watch is the equivalent value?
Speaking from experience, whatever you do, don’t share that thought.

  • I saved up for an engagement ring years ago. Then I managed to snag a ring passed down from my great, great grandmother and so I spent the savings on my Explorer I.

    csb.

  • Might ditch the Apple wrist computer in favour of one of these.

  • Looks pretty sophisticated. Are you sure you'd use all the features?

  • Lovely, congrats also!!

    lol

It was definitely part of the thought process. Mrs CB2b is very aware of my purchases, past/present and possible future ones. My thought was, if im going to wear a watch of value, surely thats the same? Or more so as watches come and go... So what if i cant eat, how much can one place on love?

I couldnt quantify rings/ring prices, so i had to use watches... Is this a g-shock, or should i go for an AP "torbillion"...

    very dangerous thinking games this

  • Late to the party but CONGRATULATIONS! Great news - wishing you heaps of future happiness.

Also, i think it's brilliant that the forum is part of the event with @magpie assisting with the shiny stuff and @ejay2.0 looking after the photography.

  • What's the thread consensus on nomos?

Ive had a fairly significant moment at work, after a long time of lots of hard work, which I want to quietly mark, so have got myself a pre order of the pelagos fxd. I'd like to get a watch for my wife at the same time. She's not one for a metal bracelet, and really likes the minimal end of the spectrum. Nomos would seem the perfect fit.

  • Berry's have a decent sale on Nomos if your browsing. I know nothing about them though.

  • Few crush today at the flea market..

  • Thread complaints have been the mega lugs make the watches "wear" bigger than the case size would indicate / that they look better in photos than in real life. Not sure whether either of those are relevant to ladies' models.

  • I would have bought that crayfish.

  • I’ve always fancied one. Proper bits of design. A size for every wrist and a movement for every budget.

But I swear they were ~half those ^ prices last time I looked a few years ago.

  • That's like no flea market I ever see any more.

  • @Aroogah passed on it because I couldn’t justify spending 300 bucks for it, but I will regret it for a long time..

Same flea market happens again in one month, finger crossed the seller will be there and still got it..

@Grumpy_Git it’s a meeting for professional antique dealers, took place every month in Avignon.

Amazing things to see/buy but sellers know what they have, didn’t expect for bargains

  • As expected not in the UK. Some lovely watches though. That Nivada is brilliant

  • I think I’d always default to Cartier or Omega in this situ

  • Nomos generally have long lugs that don't dip, so unless you under-size quite a bit they don't fit very well.

They always used to be great value for money but as @Hefty says, their prices seem to have shot up recently.

For a small casual-ish watch they're nice. I think it comes down to whether the design language is right for you - they really have their own niche, so if you like that type of Bauhaus design it'll hit the mark. AnOrdain are maybe in a similar wheelhouse but the waiting list is very long indeed.

A more leftfield minimal-design-forward option might be one of the 36mm Ochs und Junior Settimanas:

    https://www.ochsundjunior.swiss/watches/settimana-black/shop/

O&J historically have been about offering customisation of every dial component but they now do an off-the-shelf range that are much more affordable (especially the Settimanas, which is a weekday complication). The cases are CNCd titanium and the movements are cleverly modified Sellitas/ETAs (Ulysse Nardin in the more complicated watches - Ludwig Ochs is a complications designer for UN).
