velo orange grand cru? dia compe center pulls? pauly c' centerpulls?
-
• #26606
You could always go for the Rene Herse centrepulls (up to 42c tyres) if you want to spend nearly 200 bucks for a single incomplete caliper featuring second hand parts.

I’ve used these http://www.tektro.com/mobile/products.php?p=43 with these https://www.specializedconceptstore.co.uk/product/6309/2021-trigger-sport/ in 38c and there’s enough clearance for hardpack, but not SFAB.

There's a review from a customer who says they got clearance for 37c plus mudguards, could be worth a nosey.

Right, thanks.

They go all the way up to my knees (ice hockey socks), so the other way around would've looked even worse I reckon!

Heading home this eve, so last outing in Shropshire for a while. Some solid sfab / gravé intervals were had. Even got shouted at by a farmer before we realised we are related. Classic Shropshire.

How did you manage that? Riding too big of a tyre?
-
• #26619
Yes

Sort of. It was a third hand buy and the guy I bought it off was running 40c which was far too big for a 2015 geo frame. There was a groove and paint rub but it was rideable IMO.
So I swapped them for some 35c and they have been great for 2 years. Deffo no frame rub.
However I think the famous winter UK slop n grime increased the tyre width over November / December 22 and finished the job.
But of a pain as a mate had wanted it and we agreed a price and I was just tweaking a few things for him when I noticed it.

Is that 650b?
I’m tempted to get a nice 650b carbon wheelset for my carbon checkpoint as it got enough clearance with 650b 50mm

• #26622
It may have been there already, plus if it’s QR, that can make an impact.
Weld it and retire it as a 28mm flat bar commuter?

Dangle mug and hip(ster) flask?
With regards to the Brother Mr Wooden chat a few pages back:
I like it, don't mind the colour, 650b rim brake, 4130, headtube is fine (1 1/8 or quill, not arsed).
I'd ride one without a worry, looks like a 650b Cross Check, I'm cool with that.
It's a niche frameset, not particularly mass produced, don't think Brother are one of the big boys, so they'll have low order quantities, obviously hiking the price, comparable with how Crust, Riv, All City, Soma et al operate.
I do get the point about the marketing blurb though, but marketing department gotta earn their coin somehow.
I'm a bit retrogrouchy with regards to my bicycle tendencies, so good on em I say.
