Drum dropping sounds like bearing to me. The same happened on ours and then the drum wore through the heating element lol. The bearings were about £70 for our Bosch and it’s a mega involved job to replace them - I’d done other minor repairs on the machine but the bearings was too much to bare (and it would’ve needed a new heating element too). Replaced the machine with a second hand Miele and haven’t looked back.
Anyone have any tips for washing machine fault diagnosis? Mine's a 12 year old indesit. Never missed a beat. Last few cycles it started to make some strange noises. Doing what any responsible washing machine owner would do, I ignored it and hoped it went away. It didn't. Most recent wash it stopped in the spin cycle. Once reset and opened the drum looks like it may have dropped an inch (not sure if this is new/linked, I can't say I kept a close eye on drum height when it was working) - but what feels more telling is that the drum feels locked in place, no suggestion of movement/spin either direction.
Any input much appreciated!
Cheers
