This is not a helpful response, but you’ve already had at least 5 years more than the usual life of these machines. A like for like replacement is probably cheaper than a repair.
Yeah, I appreciate that, certainly not planning on calling anyone out, but asking whether there's any possibility of fixing myself to avoid scrapping something that may be reasonably salvageable...
If the bearings are dead it’s a pretty advanced job to DIY, and sod’s law says something else will go in the near future even if you do manage to swap them out.
