Anyone have any tips for washing machine fault diagnosis? Mine's a 12 year old indesit. Never missed a beat. Last few cycles it started to make some strange noises. Doing what any responsible washing machine owner would do, I ignored it and hoped it went away. It didn't. Most recent wash it stopped in the spin cycle. Once reset and opened the drum looks like it may have dropped an inch (not sure if this is new/linked, I can't say I kept a close eye on drum height when it was working) - but what feels more telling is that the drum feels locked in place, no suggestion of movement/spin either direction.
This is not a helpful response, but you’ve already had at least 5 years more than the usual life of these machines. A like for like replacement is probably cheaper than a repair.
Yeah, I appreciate that, certainly not planning on calling anyone out, but asking whether there's any possibility of fixing myself to avoid scrapping something that may be reasonably salvageable...

Any input much appreciated!
