Thanks!
Good spot on the red dot.
Yes this bike passed through his fair hands and earned the Kinetics medallion!
Unfortunately it's nowhere near the 9.5kg of the CHPT3.
I'll console myself with the T Line and the ongoing Nickel Ti Superlight build. -

Those forks and triangle are amazing! Kinetics right?

A day filled with zoom calls and no opportunity to get out and ride my new bike. This is not how WFH was meant to be.

Looking closer at the pic again, it looks like your rear light bracket is on the wonk, as the B&M 2C appears to be leaning to the right, no?

Any reason why it's cable disc instead of hydro?
-
• #12932
I dont think hydro makes sense on brompton as there are no drastic cable angles esp with a spyre type of design.
-
• #12933
Ha ha! You were probably right. All squared up now!!
-

Personal choice and minimal maintenance, I recall. I wasn't too fussed with going hydro and potential air leaks when folded.
The Spyres do a cracking job anyway.
Plus I originally wanted to keep some recognisable Brompton parts. -
• #12935
Kinda does considering a pair of fully bled brakes cost less than a single Spyre caliper.

but so heavy

Not if you're savvy with your purchasing.

also I think I read somewhere that hydro braking is toooo good and hard to modulate on small wheels.
this has made me want disc brakes on mine ... what was approx spend? and I'm assuming tricky to have front dynamo too?
-
• #12939
If going disk brake then it everything is more standardised, just not Brompton standards. The Kinetics kit for example has standard 100mm front and 135mm rear qr spacing so can pretty much use any hub. I’ve got alfine 8s test and JTek Dynamo front on mine, but could use any normal SON/Shimano/SP hub that you’d use on a “normal” bike. Re cost adds about £1k over stock Brompton as you essentially need to buy both, @sbbohr did mine whilst at SJS and some parts could be sold back to reduce the cost so might be worth asking for complete build costs vs parts. Think he’s gone solo no at bromptonman.com

Will be even cheaper then... ;)

Bro... Don't go disc and IG hub if weight is an issue ;)

haha fair!

this has made me want disc brakes on mine ...
Why don’t we do a 20x2.25” off road build while we are there..

Excellent.
My only Brompton regret is not getting a dynamo from the outset.

How is the T-line one week in? Is yours 4 speed - any skipping or other gear issues?
-
• #12949
We have had 4 stock front wheels in VGC donated to the shop and can't imagine shifting them any time soon. Anyone in need of a cheap one (or four)?

A challenger appears
Quality and parts look a bit shit but the frame is interesting
Congrats. That looks way nicer than the ‘new’ Chpt3. Q: Does that red dot I spy = an Alfine hub from Mr Cooper, if not do tell?
