I view the cupboard as a separate thing and so would paint it in such a way as to (subtly) underline that.
Unless you want to make it seamlessly integrate, in which case the picture rail would be an issue. -
Paint it to match the front but acrylic eggshell not matt emulsion normally.

Hive mind, a question. What should I do with the side of this cupboard? Paint it to match the front (probably Dulux white diamond matt), paint it to match the wall (probably little greene french grey) or make it a feature wall with live laugh love wallpaper?
Grey will look strange unless I also carry the white across from above the picture rail I guess
