Rerouting on the Karoo is only a suggestion, it suggests a new route to get you back on course but it's in a different colour and your original route always stays on screen so you can just ignore the reroute suggestions and carry on as you were.
You can also set different ride profiles in the device which alters how it reroutes apparently but I don't know what this means in practise. I imagine it doesn't try to get you back to a road if you have the surface preference set to gravel in the current profile.

Thanks - googling the issue just seemed to result in a load of furious mountain bikers going on about auto re-routing. Bike computers with frequent updates are a particularly annoying thing to research online as half the issues people moan about seem to have then been fixed.
Plus obviously disastisfied people are much more likely to post about it on the internet. But if re-reoutes aren't forced it doesn't seem to be an issue at all.

Would love a 1040 solar but that's definitely way out of my price range. I have an Instinct solar watch which is great, so it's sort of tempting to go back to the garmin 'ecosystem'. Sure they've improved a lot from my days of trying to break a 600k audax into enough parts not to cause my edge 800 to explore.

Looking at ebay sold prices it looks like a secondhand Karoo or Edge 1030 are within the sort of amount I can face spending (and offset against reselling my Bolt v2).

The Garmin edge explore 2 comes in the regular option or with the power bundle (90 quid more). Can you still charge and use at the same time with the regular version, by just plugging a battery pack to it. Or must you get the power bundle for this functionality

Anyone up on watches? I have an old fenix but it's huge.

I don't need maps, music or jazzy shit. Just to record outdoor training. Also want to wear it all the time for resting HR and HRV. So smaller and light better.

The grrl has a Garmin Vivomove Luxe or something like that. BNIB work gift. Probably a bit flash and less practical for you though but she wants rid of it.

Silver stainless steel w/ steel Milanese band. Looks like a 'normal' watch but does Garmin stuff.

I've no idea what it does but she wants to sell it.

I have the Fenix 7s solar, my first watch so I can't compare to other brands. It does HRV very well, and has a huge range of activity types so can cover pretty much everything you might want to do. I got the 's' as I have quite small wrists, and I didn't need the extra days battery life from the standard size, especially as it has solar. It's certainly light and small enough not to be annoying.

Fair enough. I've not felt hindered by the size, so if you're not after mapping I wouldn't hesitate at all with a 41-42mm case.

I've been using a 245 for the exact purposes you mention since December, ive been impressed compared to the fitness trackers of c.5 years ago

I didn't really want the music variety. I always take my phone with me for securitey so can use that.

I'm currently in the market for a Garmin Fenix 6 of some description to replace my 3HR Sapphire, which I've had for 5 years now.
Question is, which one do I go for? I definitely want the Sapphire glass, but apart from that, there seem to be about 20 different editions (6s, 6, 6x, Pro, Titanium, DLC etc.....).
Secondly, has anyone every bought a grade 'B' second hand one from CEX?
Any advice welcome, and if anyone's upgrading there's and wants to sell, let me know.....

Personally if I was getting a Fenix 6 I'd go for the bigger screen because it makes maps a bit easier to use. But it's a big thing on your wrist.

Thanks - I think that's good advice, which probably rules out the 6S, as that's the smallest version. I'm probably erring towards either the 6 Sapphire DLC, or the 6 Sapphire Titanium. Both are smaller and lighter than my current 3HR, but with bigger screens. Titanium looks nicer, and is 10g lighter, but more prone to scratching.

I didn't buy anything yet. I have a fenix 3, and it's bigger than mars but works so I'm struggling to stump up the cash.

Also thinking 255S or similar (with a bigger strap as my wrist is at least 190mm and the basic strap is up to 170mm). Don't mind the existing 47mm bezel of my 945 but I wouldn't mind something smaller.

My replacement 945 (which I got in April 2022) now only lasts ~24h (doing 24h pulse-ox, etc) it used to last 4 or 5 days when brand new. Might contact Garmin again.

I want 24/7 pulse-ox and sleep tracking, and it needs to be able to do running, the occasional bit of cycling, and swimming (both pool and open water), but the chance of me actually doing any long (>5h) activities are gone for the next year or so a replacement isn't urgent.

I think vs the Forerunner it has less running specific features like workouts etc but is a more everyday/health tracking device and available in multiple sizes and with decent battery life
